The overseas players earn millions some of which comes to Ghana by way of remittances and the construction of magnificent mansions; how can you say they have earned us nothing?

Martha Bissah won youth Olympic gold in Beijing and what gargantuan funding and equipment did she need? Sometimes, the onus is on these athletes to make lemons out of lemonade, okay. These gh athletes have no drive, no ambition and no determination to do the impossible. U have an Olympic record and world record to try to beat or get closer to during ur 4yrs of training. If after 4yrs the best u can do is find itself unable to make it past heat 1. Then, the person who decided to waste tax payers money to fund your useless Olympic dream must be fired! Did Martha get a world class coach, funding for her to concentrate on her training etc before winning Olympic youth gold? NO! So shut up and admit that our Olympic athletes are lazy and lack ambition, discipline and determination. If the ivorians, South Africans and nigerian athletes can perform respectfully at these Olympics. Why not Ghanaian athletes? Dabiaa, fucking excuses

I think you mean 'taking lemons and making lemonade', not 'make lemons out of lemonade'. But you are right. There is no reason why excellence depends on sending a 17 year old overseas to america where she will be vulnerable, homesick and probably hate it and not be able to train anyway. Martha Bissah was a real proper and proven prosepect. The way she was treated was appalling and quite frankly whoever made the decision to stop her progress because she didn't suck up to whoever and be grateful and servile should be fired. What they don't seem to understand these federation presidents is they want the athletes to be servile and grateful when everyone knows that a real champion has an attitude, a burning desire to win and a certain self belief and confidence. That of course goes against the grain of whtat they want. They want someone who says 'yes sir no sir three bags full sir' and is perpetually on their knees. those are the people the federation presidents like, support and select. Well no wonder then when this selection gets to the world stage they just don't have what it takes to get through the togh competition. So yeah I agree withyou.

u make smething out of nothing bcos u are determined and disciplined. its referred to as "making lemons out of lemonade", u idiot. "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade" is a proverbial phrase used to encourage optimism and a positive can-do attitude in the face of adversity or misfortune. Lemons suggest sourness or difficulty in life, while lemonade is a sweet drink.

throwing money at everything is not the way to solve the real problem which is how the federations are run. The grassroots of the organisation, managment, agendas, planning and strategy of all the federations is the problem and why nothing has been achieved since 1992 or whatever it is when Ghana last won any medals at Olympics. So don't keep asking for more money like that solves the problem Cos the only people who benefit are the people who are already mismanging ie the federation administrators/presidents. Take the existing resources, plan and strategise and set goals. National, continental, then commonwealth then Olympic. You can't send someone who has never even wona youth medal at Continental level to the Olympics and expect them to make podium. NOT GONNA HAPPEN. WHY? because sports is now big business and lots of money in it through sponsorship etc. so countries have lans to make sure they get the results. If you don't plan you can't win. If you don't know where you 're going and how you're going to get there, you won't get there. Why is this so hard? Because the federations don't want change. They have a vested interest to makesure they hold n to power so they don't care if there's no results as long as they can keep making freebies, per diems and show off. Half of them don't even know anything abut the sport they are supposedly representing. It's so sad because Ghana has the talent and is spending the money. It's just not going to the right places. Jamaica has a smaller budget, is a tiny island with a tiny population and is more poor, unstable and violent. So Ghana can do better and should do better. BUt there's people standing in the way of progress and they have the power and authority to do what they like because they are 'FEDERATION PRESIDENTS' and the consititution says they can do what they like and they even boast they are untouchable! Maybe there's a way the minister and sports authority can have the mandate to step in and clean it up? Who knows? If the will is there it can be done. It's not impossible.

You what? Bring back the tartan track you and Rex Danquah minipulated and used disquised method to removed it with the excuse of using the space for seating capacity at the Accra Stadium during the CAN2008 Afican Cup of Nations. You were instrumental and wanted to privatize the stadium for just soccer now track and field is dead in Ghana. You are a real selfish bastard and an idiot. You come up with a stupid idea-ask yourself that question is track and field only 100 metres? That's killing the sport right there? You used Mike Ahey, Hannah Afriyie even Jerry Rawlings as poster gimmick as if your'e reviving the sport chiaka to promote your selfish interest. Milking the system. I will personally campaign against you getting anywhere with this. Who have you coached to revive the sports or who have you given money to help their grooming so please!!!! Go away. Yes you're pathetic. Trying to take advantage of the poor showing at the olympics to get something. Another greedy bastard. No corporate businesses should donate for your cause you just pocket the donation.

You can't make good athletes out of bricks and mortar. You need the right coaching team. And that is what is lacking. Ghana cannot attract and retain top coaches if they continue to use all the money for buildings. But Ghanains like buildings and ribbons and opening ceremony so asking for that and infrastructure investment and then sending some people abroad doesn't work either. Each sport has a different criteria, needs and optimum age related to training and performance. Frankly no one can go to an Olympic event if they haven't cracked African Championships or atleast finished in last 8 or 10. so investing on getting results at the Continental zone should be the main immediate focus. There is time for that and a possibility of getting results if Ghana focuses on the sports where they have a real chance.

I agree.I worked with the Chinese and studied their programme and I know a thing or two about their planning and execution. Creating a proper plan is key. Building buildings just costs money and then more moeny for maintenance but it doesn't produce results. Results are created through a magical combination of picking the right talent and having the right coach, the right level of competition and variety for preparation, making sure the athlete is training and evaluating the training. In other words a real programme and schedule. Buildings don't make champions. For each sport there is a different set of components. It's not one size fits all at all. FOr instance in swimming, obviously you do need an olympic size pool and the right coach but you can't expect 14 year Forson or Jackson to ever make it because they have already missed the milestones at their age. SO they should be prepared for only the continental African level building to a career high of Commonwealths. If by some miracle they actually make podium then you can think of them as olympic hopefuls but frankly the fact remains they are too far behind. SO if Ghana wants a swimmer for 2024, best to scout for a 8-9 year old now who can commit. But bear in mind swimming demands huge commitment from parents and this is also where Ghanaians need encouragement to consider sports with respect and commitment. So it is a holistic approach and can only be achieved if it is considered important at the very top and mandated. But it can happen and should happen. Ghana has a lot of talent and will to win in its DNA.
