Former vice chairman of the Ghana Swimming Association, Kwadwo Adu Asare has tipped the country’s first female swimmer Kaya Forson to conquer the world in 2020 in Tokyo.

The 14-year-old placed third in her 200m free style competition but failed to qualify to the semifinals with her personal best time of 2:16.02.

According to Adu Asare, Ghana in the last five years has produced two key athletes in swimming because of the seriousness attached to the sport.

"Kaya should be encouraged from now because she has made history as the youngest and she participated under the flag of Ghana.

"She needs to be encouraged and in four years time she will be great,” he told Starr Sports.

Team Ghana will have the first male swimmer Abieku Jackson also competing in the 50m freestyle competition on Thursday.
