There is no requirement for a player to qualify for another country before switching to Ghana. It's an opportunity for Dodoo to prove himself and a chance for our team to upgrade. Many Ghanaians don't realize that the Black Stars need a lot of work in all aspects from goalkeeping, defense, midfield to forward. A lot of the current players are just average but we need much better players and coaching in order to build a world cup standard team. We haven't gotten replacements for Richard Kingston, John Mensah, Michael Essien, Sulley Mutari and Kevin Prince Boateng. Gyan is also about done so the search should continue.

Are you saying players failed all because they switched to Ghana? There are more contributing factors than just the switch. I actually think switching played no role at all for their failure. How can that be? Switching is supposed to help Ghana and the player. A good player is a good player no matter where he plays. I think Prince Boateng gained by playing for Ghana. Then the fame and success got to him and he declined. There is always a pioneer for every situation. Dodoo can succeed regardless of failures of others. It all depends on how good and serious he is.

I think something should be made clear, the fact that you switch nationality doesnt guarantee an automatic place in the Black stars nor any national team.
your performance is key to earning a call-up
Now lets llok at some players who naturalised for Ghana
1.TONY BAFFOE
2.HANS ADU SARPEI
3.KIM GRANT
4 OTTO ADOO
5.QUINCY ABEYIE
6.KP BOATENG
7.KWARASEY
8.EMMANUEL FRIMPONG
9.SCHLUPP.
Now ask yourself who among this players turned down a call-up from their European countries and chose Ghana?,most chose Ghana bcos they had no chance of representing their first countries.
abeyie ,kp boateng for instance played for the youth teams of holland and Germany respectively, but could not get their way through to the senior teams bcos there were better players.
The likes of Freddy Adu(USA),David Odonkor(Germany),Gerald Asamoah etc
Chose their respective countries and they were called ,they were good, others didnt do well as time went on, example Freddy Adu, does it mean USA messed up his career?
Kp boateng....chose turned down Ghana in 2006,but decided to play for Ghana in 2010 when he realised he wasnt going to get a place considering the players in Germany who play the same position as him....yet his brother plays for Germany bcos Germany lacks good defenders.
Balotelli, look how the guy has suffered discrimination for playing for italy."no black italian"
The Euros are on-going, he wasnt called,he has lost form....do you blame italy for this?
pls think again

Oh, Ghana. player decides to play for Ghana because he has no chance of playing for England. he played only 3 times for his club for the whole season and Ghana has jumped to have him. we want players who will refuse call ups for their adopted countries because they want to play for Ghana. Kevin Prince Boateng begged to play for Ghana not because he loved Ghana but because Germany did not call him. what commitment did we see from him. Why are Ghanaian football officials so full of inferiority complex, just because the boy lives abroad so he is good.

Also, he has already featured internationally for England at the junior level. Don't tell me that you know better than the coaches and experts in England because you don't.

these players born overseas do not learn from the past experiences of the players who have taken that route. you will play for them and later people who say that Ghana did you a favor, or you do not speak Ghanaian language so you cannot organize the field. they need to talk to KIm Grant, Owusu Abayie, Prince Boateng, Kwarasay and the rest before they do that. I think it is a mistake to play for a nation if you are not born in the country they see you as a foreigner and treat you like one.

Who are the others who have regretted playing for Ghana that you are referring to Mr. Charlie Kwame? You can't mention a single name. It's all your imagination. You have no idea how much of dream it is for an ambitious footballer to be part of world cup team. If the player is not used it means he isn't better than some other player. Switching doesn't mean the player will play. It means an opportunity for selection. There are claims that Kwarasey was discriminated against but nobody knows for sure what happened. It's his word against that of the coach and technical team. I personally think Kwarasey wasn't all that good and the coach might have felt the same way. We are trying to build a world cup standard team so any player who thinks he's got what it takes should be encouraged to join. Our GFA stinks so that's where we as citizens should agitake for changes.
