The honest pity of all this case is how a person of Kennedy's standing, both socially and politically, could stoop so low as to rain lurid, lewd, disparaging insults on anyone in the Media.

Look, Akans have a proverb that literally says that: 'If you are too much of a warrior, you miss the battle'. That is to say, if one overexerts oneself to prove one's might or power, often, one loses the battle before one even reaches the battlegrounds. That warrior, then, could hurt himself or herself before the battle begins and would not be able to go to the battle-front to fight.

Such is what I see about Kennedy. We all know he is rich. We all know he has some modest Academic and Professional background. We all know he is some businessman, and possibly, a very successful one at that. However, that does not give him the right to assume the posture he has been carrying along all these years, wantonly unleashing disparaging insults on anyone he has some disagreement with. Trying so hard to prove how tough his skin is does not impress anyone with any considerable experience in life.

It isn't long ago since he called the former President Kufuor an accomplice to the Murder of Adams, the murdered NPP Chairman of Upper East. What proof does Kennedy have to implicate Kufuor, Mpiani and others, all because Kennedy see them as not-so-supporting of his idol politician, Akufo-Addo.

Anyone could indulge in 'Akakabensem'--reckless machismo. But it is only when someone takes such a person on in the Courts that we would really know the real 'MAN' in him.

Enough is enough! If you believe Agyapong meant some other person, I guess you would have to help him prove the identity of that person in the Courts.

If Kennedy did not mean his offensive remarks for this particular Ahmed Toure, he would have long come out to say so in the Media. But he is quiet now. And it is most likely he is only thinking how to play around with words to keep his aggressive posture intact.

We cannot and should not be so liberal with embracing the buffoonery of adults who command massive influence in our Society, and ought to behave to meet certain standards of maturity, civility and good character in the Country. Being a whole MP in a Nation means a whole lot, at least, to the People who elected the person to be their National representative.

Agyapong thinks so long as he has money to splash around, he could always get his way, even buy votes. But his cup could soon fill up.

He has been insulting even the President of the Country over and over again with impunity. And yet he had the audacity to warn others who were emulating him to insult Akufo-Addo, instead.

Well, what goes around comes around. Sensible people stay with relevant facts in arguing out their opinions on the Nation. They do not rain dehumanizing insults on a fellow Politician who may be doing something wrong but not even necessarily criminal.

No one is perfect. And if we tend to dehumanize folks that make mistakes in the course of their duties, we must be prepared to swallow similar pill when the odds turn.

I was overwhelmed by pronouncements made by Afia Schwarzenegger and Ken Agyapong on my facebook and whatsApp posts.
This problem demands a common, coherent policy to regulate the media.
Ghana is peaceful, rich by it culture and accesible to foreigners.
Our colonial masters once referred to us as the gentlemen from Africa.
This media frenzy would have been manageable if the National media Commission is working efficiently and effectively pursuant to National Media Commission Act 1993, Act 449 by virtue of the provisions of Chapter 12 of Ghana's 1992 Constitution which enjoins among others to take all measures to ensure the establishment and maintenance of the highest journalistic standards on mass media, including investigation, mediation and settlement of complaints made against or by the press or other mass media.
The willingness of the National Media Commission to ensure highest journalistic standards is questionable as we have observed such over a period of time.
Unless order is restored, soon pilitical pressure will force the citizens to clamp down, starting a wave of “yen tie obia”. The situation today is a mess. It epitomises lack of sensitivity, legal and moral responsibility.
Ensuring a well-regulated system requires three steps.
The first is to curb the ‘push factors” for example curb recruitment/appointment of amateur presenters and beef up recruitment by employing the right people with the right accreditation.
The second is to employ compliance officers in all the media houses to advise on legal matters relating to their operations.
Third, the National Media Commission (The Agency) is to come out and condemn the pronouncements and tutor the masses on high journalistic standards and enjoins them to disdain such social pretensions.
Freedom of Speech is as fundamental as the right to respect to private and family life but not absolute. It is limited to the law of slander, libel and seduction.
