Kwesi Appia is a good player. He understands the game and makes intelligent runs and passes. I had seen him playing for Cambridge and I was not sure if he was Black Star material, but in this tournament, he has shown he belongs in the team. People like you have already started insulting him after just one tournament! If he is not strong he will get scared and stop playing for us. This is why Kwarasey didnt come for this tournament. You Gh Fuo and other ghanaians like to be treated like dirt! That is why you go and beg KPB when he treats you like Ashawo, but you will insult Appiah who is clearly delighted to be playing for Black Stars. Instead of encouraging and welcoming him so he can feel at home, you have decided to start insulting him.

I simply said he wasn't aggressive on the field and needed to be utilized on the right wing. Appiah was a liability from the beginning until he was finally subbed. His lack of experience for top notch games was clear. I saw this immediately. Appiah couldn't feed passes to dede or gyan. Appiah couldn't dribble or get past bailly and die serey. Appiah couldn't win tackles. He was losing balls. He was so much of a liability. Wakasso had to draw back to partner acquah in midfield and allow dede to operate the wing. With the hope that wakasso will feed appiah for him to feed gyan or dede. That also.didn't work and yet grant sat there and didn't sub him. WHY? Teabofre is not working,.so change the gun! We outplayed them after the 65th minute or.so, but the ball possession was almost equal after halftime. Yes, I want some of the veteran players back. How did the ivorians veteran players help their team? I will tell you this. Muntari could have been more effective in the 8pocket and acquah would have tauht acquah so much more as a 6. He is a top class manager and just like the players will learn am sure he will also learn from what happened. Some ghanaian players may have ability but they may be mentally timid but it is not in our nature to like voiceforous ones hence the exile of muntari etc. A grant in his defence his team scored the most goals, conceeded the least goals, and won all the individual awards at the tourney. There is no point calling for his head at this time. Akwasi appiah destroyed our team unity; we conceded goals left right and center and had no vision in terms of how we play. We have a solid base to go forward from now on. I see why coaches like to bring their own men as assistant because doubtless konadu who knew the players will have had some input into ehat was happening. I think sometimes you win dometimes you lose. Perharps grant saw something why he gave acheampong a chance to make his name, be a legend and win us this tourney but he didnt quite have the balls to do that. The problem I see is with the goalkeeper himself who is not up to international standard. The Elephants were able to put 9-goals beyond him with 2-other goals going outside the post. On the other hand the Elephants goalkeeper was able to save two shots which made the difference. If you are in a post to concede 9-goals in a penalty shoot out that tells the wickness of the goalkeeper. Generally, the goalkeeper is not good. E&OE.

If they play HOT SHOT from 12 yards out, it is very difficult for the keeper to touch it!! Even the 2 that cote divoire missed was HOT SHOT!! One hit the bar, the other went over.
Ghana players were trying to "place" ball. With penalties, the keeper guesses and dives one way. If you play the ball there and the keeper guess and goes that way, he will save it if there is no PEPPER in the shot. Therefore if you are going for penalty, the best policy is to play HOT SHOT with EXTRA PEPPER, that way it will be in the back of the net before the keeper even knows that he has to dive.
"placement" penalty is nice when you score, but if the keeper guesses the right way, he has 90% more chance of saving a "placement" ball than a HOT SHOT.
Please, dont blame the keeper. From 12 yards out, with some of the shots that Yaya Toure and co were playing, he had no chance!!

You may be a kid so you would not know but if not for envy and debased jealousy against Ghana, the country would have won all four continental championships from 1963-1970 and also the one in 1992. In my own opinion, the captain demoralized the entire players by running away from his lads(the same boys a captain is to be behind them and inspire them.) Even if he had decided not to take the penalties because my Ghanaians would not spare him if he misses, he could have stayed on the pitch to give them the morales needed at that anxious moment. When David brought down Goliath, all of Goliath's soldiers ran away in a panic mode because there was no one to lead them. It would have been better if Asamoah Gyan was not fielded in today's match. I know someone will say Gervinho did the same but Ivory Coast won the penalties. If you are the one, I will tell you that, Gyan is a CAPTAIN unlike Gervinho. A captain's role is fuel injector, motivator, being able to move your anxious and fearful players to the next level to do the unthinkable. They should not be deserted, abandoned or forsaken by their own captain. At this point, I think the Black Stars need a warlike Captain or leaders like Shaka Zulus of this world, to forge ahead when it appears there is no hope.
This is also a lesson to us Ghanaians who do not know how to forgive and forget. Look, keeper Barry is known to the Ivorians as the weakest link, as far as manning the post is concerned. I know if their first choice goalie was not on the injury list, he wasn't going to be given that chance. Here we are now, the stone rejected has now become the cornerstone, the hero and the savior for the Elephants. Where were Prince, and Muntari? What could their presence have made? Were we going to wail and cry blood now if these boys were totally forgiven and allowed into this team, especially in the final match of this magnitude, where keeper Barry could have been scored by Muntari even from the center circle. When are my Ghanaians going to learn from our simple mistakes which bring us more losses, more pains and continue to make us the sleeping giants of Mother Africa. May we all be comforted and minds be renewed and to learn to forgive and forget, so that Black Stars will have all the best players back into the team and by so doing, you and I will smile and celebrate our win in 2017, Amen-oo-oo.

The players had to keep hyping him every time it was his tire- he didn't have the mental capability maybe the goalies should have been subbed? Did you see his body language throughout the matches? A coach who just depended on the work of supposed supers to do what ever they wanted. See how the Ivorians played hacked, stamped and fouled the young Ghanaians at will. No wonder they ended up with four yellow cards with no award for any of their supposed stars. A coach who just get lucky with the last penalty kick. What happened to Zambia after they won in 2012? Ghana is a very consistent performer at the Nations cup, with an unprecedented 9 times appearance in the finals winning 4 and runners up 5 times. No team can come closer to this. They show up once in so many years and vanish into thin air. Until a fair means is found to pick up winners instead of the lottery of penalty kicks, let us be proud that we held the super favorites to a draw. They never beat us. We scored 10 conceded 3, the best defence, the best attack, the best player, the highest scorer, the best technically gifted. Herved Renard cannot match the record Avran Grant in this tournament. He won only three matches and drew. Ghana won four lost one and drew one. He should keep his wishes for his aging Ivorian side or the next country that may invite him after Ivory Coast. For Ghana, we are forever grateful for these new young talents have been uncovered for our World cup and next AFCON campaigns.

One thing I got so satisfied with was the way our young defenders smoked out and made nonsense of the over hyped Ivorian super stars. Harrison Afful and at the right and the other young guy at the left made nonsense of Gervinho and Bonny, they kept fouling and chasing the game. Wakasso and Afriyie Acquah aso made Yaya Toure largely ineffective throughout the match. Manchester City should be having second thoughts for buying and retaining very lazy and aging so called Ivorian super stars, who on the bigger stage, had to relie on the odd penalty kick to edge out their unsung, young and more talented Ghanaian counterparts. Ivory Coast always come to the AFCON with so called super stars yet flatter to deceive. No wonder all their finals in 1992, 2006, 2012 and 2015 have ended in drawn games. They cannot simply win a final game without going through penalties.
