How was he able to rise and get to the level he was? We could have used him as role model for our young players. Instead we always look at his weakness or bad side to put it bluntly.
At his peak , he was one of the best mild fielders in the whole world . There was always fierce competition in Chelsea in the mild field
Role but Essien was on top and the fans favourite.
I have had the privilege of meeting football fans in the middle east, Asia and very recently the carribean . The way they love Essien you can't believe it.
Maybe its part of our life or culture to run down those who have made it on merit to the top.we all ghanaians have it in us. PhD tactics.
We can all remember Beckham in one of the world cups . He caused england exit , but later they made him ambassador for so many events England wanted to host.he is a legend in england. Same applies to Rooney..
My advice to Essien is such is the nature of his countrymen.he has already made his name. He should continue to lead a low-keysd life, quiet and invest wisely.

what they write sometimes just tells you straight away the man never left his village,.i was going to comment on what you said about essien been the least talented player in the squad actally, that was before i read your whole comment supporting and defending essien,.essien infact was the best player in that team,i know because that was when i tipped the guy to get to the very top and my God he did.my english friends i work with then, thought he was the only player from ghana but you and i know that was not true, far back as bastia i told anyone who listens this is the man,
that day when he came to chelsea was the happiest day of my life, not only cos he is a ghanaian but because everyone knew i was right all along, what happened after that is hitory, one of the best midfielders ever lived.my point is this guy showed even far back in those days he was a cut above the rest, dont get me wrong we had some really good players who made a bigger impact but you can tell he was the real deal.and i never 4got that.

A prophet has no honour in his own home. Why insult a person who has contributed so much to his country. Hating is a very sad way to live. For all the haters, tell us; what have you done for your country?
