The roads join one another from different direction leaving the motorist to guess which way to turn after meandering his way around rocks and debris, all in a whooping hour delay under sweat. The sad part is it has been like this for over a year while our stupid leaders share the inconvenience and disgrace along with impatient motorists.

If you are going to have the tournament in Central America, why not choose a country in Central America or Caribbean to have the training but USA? It is all about connections...because it neither wise nor cost-effective.

We all know the team going to the US might include prospective immigration candidates who have nothing to do with the team. It is demonstrated so many time. The British Embassy is changing policies for visa applicants because of our devious nature and the number of fake documents used by Ghanaians.
It is time we admit our dirty schemes are long discovered by others.

These folks, unlike many of our institutions that can cause public records[files] to disappear at the snap of a finger, know what they are about, and do not durn down visa applications capriciously. Our officials thought they could sneeks some of these names in under the cover of an international tournament/assignment, but the 'grengos' are too smart for that scam.

You nailed it ! The team won't get any better by training in the US. Common sense dictates that when you train hard, the actual test or game becomes easier. But Africans have this believe that if they train soft, they will perform better. It is a mental state where we thing higher performance is “caused” by comfortable environment, which is not always true. There may be correlation between them but I don’t think the correlation is strong enough to even think of causation. Take for instance Brazil. In Brazil, football is mostly played in beach sand where it is really difficult to run at full speed. In Ghana, it used to gutter-to-gutter where the space one has to maneuver is really tight and the pitch is coal tiled. Transcending these types of resistance makes one build natural skills and power to endure and perform better under a more favorable environment.
But now, in the name of what they call "development" and "democracy", we are made to think and believe that training on a pitch that looks like those in developed countries will make up perform better. And we swallowed that pill without even thinking twice. Who wouldn’t if you were the decision taker and you had that opportunity to discover other countries and claim some few per diem? In the short term that calculation works. But if you put the monies spent but the GFA on those type of trainings in Europe and Americas together in the past decade, I am pretty sure it will amount to at least 50% of building the training environments they are chasing around the globe. If you include the risk taken while travelling to these places, the tickets, hotels….and … oh that $50,000 that magically vanished in the thin air with that Kuffour’s sport minister….we should be close to 90% of building or even modernizing those we have. Does one need a phd to make this assessment? Don’t our leaders know that? They sure know. But the question they ask behind the scenes is “what do I get from it?” and “what goes into my pocket when I take that decision?”. In Ghana we do not promote “big names” for doing something great for the country. We adore names that have personal riches. If you hold public office and achieve something great that benefit the nation, you just pass unnoticed to the graves. But if you still public money and build a nice house and have a nice car, you will immediately gain fame. To satisfy that appetite, the optimum decision for a typical Ghanaian leader would be to take a decision that would yield something for his personal pocket, not that of the country. So even though the calculation above is not rocket science, the Ghanaian rational does not allow it. And we will be doing this repeating this stupid behavior till all the embassies stopped issuing visa to the entire team. That is the only way to bring us back to our senses. Maybe we need to go resurrect Dan Lartey for his “domestication” agenda that we failed to understand because his ideas were too advanced for the understanding of the majority (unfortunately) of Ghanaian public.
I commend that consular! S/he should have even refused visa to the entire team. And Ghanaian public will call Americans arrogant…meanwhile the Americans are sending us a good message…. which we refuse to understand.

Why go to USA for training in the first place if not for egoistic reasons,? there so many countries in the American continent thay has similar weather and equally good training facilities as has USA. This Visa refusal serves Ghana very well, it has sent a strong message to those decieving themself as though Ghana commands any special respect in the commity of nations.
