Kotoko break Phobian hearts

Asante Kotoko secured a crucial win against Hearts of Oak as they defeated the Phobians in the 'Super Clash' meeting on Sunday.

Yahaya Mohammed's goal caused the Phobians' first defeat after a bright start to the season at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The attacker celebrated his return from a loan spell last season with the decisive goal in the first half to earn Kotoko all three points against their fiercest rivals.

Kotoko deserved their single-goal victory as they were the better of the two side maintaining their excellent start to their title defence.

David Duncan, coach of Hearts of Oak had hoped for better luck after a string of draws between both sides in their last two meetings, but on the day, his side fell short of the needed firepower to back his words ahead of the game.

With victory over their rivals achieved, Kotoko jump to the summit as they maintain their hundred percent start to the season.
