Read the article well Sir. "Ghana arranged to play Zambia on Friday, 6th September 2013, before taking on the Japanese four days later in a friendly game on Tokyo...."
This means Ghana plays Zambia on the 4th then takes on Japan on the 8th of the same month. Therefore, there is no way Japan match could come on before Zambia match. It is the other way round, Awuni.
My fears is jet-lag because they can't leave to Japan the same day after Zambia's match. They will have to wait the next day before boarding the plane. From Ghana to Tokyo I'm not sure but I believe will take at least 10 hours. With this schedule, the team will need a day to rest before the match.
How can they practice? Why the match wasn't played in Europe to take them at least 6 hours instead of about 10 hours? This is a total gambling we playing here. What if Japan defeats us? Are we still going to get the points needed to boots our world ranking to avoid this so called tough African Teams? Wouldn't that rather pair us with the toughest continental team we are trying to avoid?
This is insane and it needs to be thought over.

It appears the GFA's PRO is playing with words. Sannie must cite good reasons to rationalise this Japan friendly. He ought to know better. Fifa take only matches played in the previous month into account when deciding the rankings. So the assertion that the friendly offers Ghana the opportunity to get a safe bet in the final round of the WC Qualifiers is not valid. Not only that Ghana currently lies second in the Africa rankings. The top 5 teams stand to be seeded. So I believe Ghana will still be seeded if we overcome Zambia. Personally,I favour the switch to Friday instead of Sunday. This is because Friday appears to hold good omen for Ghana. My only problem is that the match against Zambia will be played not long after the European football season had began. So there will be the inevitable delay in players reporting for duty. In effect there will be less training days preparing for the match. Either way, we should go for the Zambians throats when they arrive in Kumasi on the D-Day. Wish our gallant Black Stars Mother Luck to Qualify for Brazil next year.

Ghana, especially the GFA, is already counting her eggs before they are even hatched...and they have already started writing Zambia off, with the usual Ghanaian arrogance..."oh we'll beat them"...How does the GFA know that the Black Stars will beat or draw with Zambia to start thinking about the play-off?...the reason behind the change of date is not tangible at all...if it was before the Zambia game, it would be welcomed by many but after the Zambia is tantamount to counting your eggs before they are hatched...Zambia is no stranger to playing in Ghana, going back to the days of Kabwe Warriors in the 70s...and their national team beat Black Stars in Ghana before-the opening match in the 78 Cup of nations which Ghana won when Razak scored the 'golden goal'...The fact that we've won games on Fridays does not mean we will always win on a Friday...Remember 'Black Monday'?...that was when Sierra Leone beat Black Stars for the first time at Accra Sports Stadium...bad weather had forced the game to Sunday and we lost...
Also, the reason that FIFA will use rankings to seed teams will not affect Ghana...According to FIFA, the top five teams on its rankings in september will be seeded-that means they will not be drawn but placed aside while other teams are drawn from the lot...Ghana is presently 2nd in the rankings and poised to remain there in September after their two wins against Lesotho and Sudan, both away...Ivory Coast is likely to remain tops too as they also won their two games...Ghana therefore is not going to drop below 5th so as not to be seeded and so that argument also is not valid...the only reason i can deduce is that the GFA hopes to reap financial benefits from traveling to Japan at the expense of the Black Stars...the people of Ghana should therefore rise up against the GFA to force it to revert to Sunday.

what if u lose to Zambia
What if we don't lose? This is what I call advance planning. We shd rather support a good decision to take advantage of all the days available for us.
Nothing should distract us from the Zambia game. That's more important than some useless friendly

it will not move a needle. we will still be 2nd in Africa
1) Sept matches will not count in the rankings
2) Friendly matches count for very few points
So if Ghana lose to japan and does not drop us in the ranking, how does a win going to raise our ranking?
Why is the GFA being forced to defend these noises about change in kick-off day. We should rather be interested in hitting 5 past that too-known Zambian goalkeeper and not dates. We should focus on the important thing
Count your eggs before your chicken . Common sense
WETHER FRENDLY OR NO FRIENDLY MATCHES GHANA MUST BEAT ZAMBIA PERIOT
The Zambia match is not cut and dry so why are we worrying about playoffs?. First, make sure you qualify before making plans for playoffs. Why does a million dollar organization like GFA act this childish.
You already know desperate Zambia will protest for the points after the lose a Friday match. Unbelievable !!
I agree with you to some extent. It sounds stupid to play this match on a Friday. But I still don't understand your point. Is it illegal for a match to be played on a Friday?
