I have the impression our players and their technical handlers believe more in the use of Mallams, Juju and those kind of things more than using their talent and skill to win matches. It is obvious that one cannot find reason for the inclusion or fielding of certain players, yet still they are the ones that get first team selection no matter what. After all these years of disappointment one would think we would have learnt our lessons. I think "WE" are still thinking, YES those are the things that helped us to the Quarter and Semi- finals of important tournaments. Look! We can do much much better without those false "helpers". LET US CHANGE!!!

It's not always about Kwesi Appiah, those Ghanaian football dancers and their funny hair styles are one of the major factors . Their sole mission is to go to international arena and demonstrate how best they can dance on soccer pitch in this modern era. Ghana cannot attain anything in the world of soccer even if The Brazilian legend Pele comes to coach Ghana national team with those soccer dancers. I said it before the Afcon began, until the dance stops ,there will be no trophies. I personally did not bother to watch even one match during the tournament . But my Polish colleague told me your party boys has resumed dancing already starting with Congo Match.

Well , Well, Well - Mr.Raymond Yeboah ,Ur assessment critical might be correct yet u know Coaches do not win matches by facial gesture -- it's technical conditioning & strategy on the field & the ability of the team to perform. Our talents & skills demonstrates that Ghana abounds in Football & all the Football World know we play beautiful & a delight to watch when in good gear of no mis-judgement.My suggestion is the GFA ask for new pattern of play & require many sports enthusiast to get around with the Technical Aspect of gelling the Players with intensive training & practice which i for instance felt was lacking .Lets tough & advertise in a way of scouting for Tecnical Consultants to help the Technical Coach & Physical Educationist to up their winning formula as their performance without a medal in Africa Front not good enough.I could not sleep when Burkina eliminate us -- please us the ordeal of failure & work hard for defence & midfielders got to run & run not to be over run again like Bance did to us but i've faith in the Black Stars.Let's bring in scientific football from those abroad watching how german, english ,spain , italy, play football. in fact we need technical advisors who watch football & can analyse & change formation when under pressure to counter opposing teams.Do not blame no one but do hard home work & long work outs.I've confidence & trust in the boys -- u see Wakaso & adomah & atsu . kojo asamoa agyeman badu all too good but need tutorship pls.Dauda is superb.

from the demeanor of kwadwo asamoah on the field it appears he is more comfortable @ the number 3. in fact he has come out to declare that. in my estimation he is more in the game at the 3 position than forward. he hardly handles the ball as a forward and hardly dribbles without being impeded or brought down. kwadwo has often struggled to perform as a forward for the blackstars and i think this might have informed kwesi to try him at the full back position. at that position he is able to pop up suprisingly and create opportunites. in our first match he was instrumental in the 2 goals. again in the semi final match when he was shifted there, he made more impact than when he started as a froward.

Ultimately, K Asamoah is more comfortable coming up from the overlap as a left back. He exhibits much more confidence. He is a great player but he is not someone who is going to score when the pressure is on. He is more likely to score when the other team forgets about him. i.e. the header against Congo and the 25 meter shot against Mali (although he was a midfielder at that point). He simply cannot handle the pressure of being expect to be a scoring force. I can see him scoring or sending in good crossess from the left back.

Congratulations to the Nigerian Super Eagles for winning the 29th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations. Let me also take this opportunity to give credit not only to their coach Stephen Keshi, but the players who did it as they say, for themselves and their fatherland.
I was also proud of the selfless leadership provided to the Malian team by veteran Seydou Keita. In fact, countless players stood out for me and let me also praise the likes of Jonathan Pitriopa, Mubarak Wakasu, Aristide Bance as well as Victor Moses and Mikel John Obi to mention just a few.
The leadership of African football need to take a critical look at what Keshi has achieved and ask themselves why, despite constant reminders about the ability of locals, do we still fail to take pride in our own products but continue to scour the backstreets of Europe in our desperate attempts recruit “fong kong” coaches to take charge of our national teams?
Why do we continue to marginalize indigenous coaches, deny them material support but are always prepared to pay obscene amounts of money to expatriate coaches, some of whom refuse to live in our countries and prefer to stay in Europe, only coming to Africa during the week that there is an official fixture looming?
The same coaches seem to resent living conditions in Africa, yet find nothing wrong in the color of the money they get paid by Africans. There is an exception though, and men like Claude Le Roy, Clemens Westerhof and Herve Renard have roughed it up in the respective countries they are working and have earned our respect.
But we members of the fourth estate are equally to blame for this mess. We tend to put undue pressure on local coaches, refuse to give them the respect and credit they deserve and always hammer them at the slightest opportunity and are the first to demand the hiring of a “foreign” coach.
Ghana has won the tournament a respectable four times and on each occasion, they were guided by an indigenous coach. They came very close this time around with Kwesi Appiah at the helm, but despite finishing fourth, I understand my colleagues down in Accra are already calling for his sacking!
Are we ashamed of our own? Why do we always find it so difficult to embrace our own countrymen but instead try to find fault with everything they try to do simply because we know them and grew up together in the same ‘hood?
Are we envious of what they have achieved while we still occupy the same positions at our respective places of employment where we are even considered as part of the furniture? And now we are consumed by resentment of our inability to ascend the ladder of life and therefore take it out on those that seem to be succeeding?
Is our obsession with European coaches as Keshi is asking, perhaps a reflection of our own state of mind and inferiority complex? Why is it then, that we would rather entrust the fortunes of our national team to an untried and untested European coach without any knowledge of Africa, than to a local coach?
If you think I am being a unfair to federations across the continent, then watch as local coaches qualify their respective countries for the Fifa World Cup in Brazil next year and then get fired or sidelined because they “are too inexperienced” to lead their country at a tournament like the World Cup.
I am willing to take a bet that at the end of the World Cup qualifying campaign, there will be countless so-called big name European coaches waiting on the wings to take over positions as coaches of us “gullible” Africans where they will be paid millions just for a four weeks job.
Of course, indigenous coaches are not angels either. And we have heard of shameful stories of favoritism as well as how they collude with football agents that “instruct” them to select certain players and they are guaranteed kickbacks for playing along.
It’s such a vicious circle; it breaks my heart that we never seem to learn. And perhaps that is why it will take us maybe a century to win the World Cup. Brazil has won the World Cup more than any other nation, check the nationalities of the coaches that were in charge and tell me if I am talking through my hat!
I hope Nigeria and the rest of Africa will show a little more trust and respect to the likes of Keshi and his deputy Daniel Amokachi especially now that they have proved that if they are left alone to do what they know best, they can deliver.

This is not about getting a local or foreign coach. This is about getting a coach who can really COACH. We need a good, experienced and well-tested coach. In our excuse to get a local coach, the GFA made the rather unpleasant choice of an untested understudy in the person of J. K. Appiah.
Having watched all the Ghana games at AFCON 2013 and having being embarrassed for the better part of the time , I have come to the conclusion that the coach's player selection and strategies are not up to scratch. And why that? Because we seemed to be getting all the soft penalties while legitimate goals of the opponents were disallowed.
Goodness me, I couldn't believe it was the same Bance who played against Togo and Nigeria that was made to look incredibly good against Vorsah and Boye. I had been so happy when I saw Bance in the line-up to face the Black Stars only to start choking on my own saliva for the entire duration of the game.
Cape Verde outplayed us and Burkina Faso continued it. Mali put the icing on our 'dead' cake. We came short of winning the tournament in 2008, 2010 and 2012. But at least the players played like a team with a purpose to win. In 2013, team play was completely absent. The players engaged in too many faulty passes (I do not think Solomon Asante had a 20% pass rate). The attacking was poor, midfield awful and too much pressure on the defence.
The only one who did well was Fatau Dauda. We all know what would have happened if Fatau Dauda had not been in the post and the hitherto number one choice had been.
Unless something drastic is done and done immediately, I DO NOT see how we are going to qualify for the World Cup with Zambia having been dashed 3 points and 3 goals after a poor show in Khartoum. I think all players called to camp SHOULD be selected on merit, current form and the positions they are comfortable with. Last but not the least, can we get a proper striker in our next games? Clottey doesn't cut, Gyan cannot play as a lone striker (i.e. if we cannot find any better striker, then pair him). WE NEED VERY AGGRESSIVE and strong strikers.

i don't see maxwell konadu acting as a stand in. in fact the blackstars technical bench is a weak one. nigeria has keshi and amokachi who were top notch professionals and played football to the highest level possible and played for their national team.
apart from kwesi appiah, the rest namely maxwell konadu, saban quaye and nasamu yakubu i doubt played for the blackstars.

not until we desist from age cheating, the national team(BS) can never win any crucial tournament. My point is.1.most of our players are smaller than average because of our practices of age cheating. we take an older individual with a dwarf stature and reduce his/her age and make them play in under age group.Remember, the person can perform well cos he/she is playing with kids, butif such a person is introduced to BS, he/she is not able to compete cos it's a different pace. and also such a person can not perform after few years of his carrier. because age is catching up to him/her. GFA should stop those practices and play it fair. we may not do well under the junior level, but we will have fit players with their actual age.I checked a profile of two Ghananain players few days ago on Ghanaweb, and I was surprised to find out that one of them played for Liberty proffesional at age eleven.how could this be possible.Another inncident was a guy whom I went to school with had His age reduced by six years in order to play in the junior team.Again, my point is, we can do well in the junior team by reducing our ages but it will not help at the senior level.2.If we continue with age cheating at the junior level, we will always end up with players that unfit and also under stature. All the tall, giant, athletic, musculine ones would always be left behind.when you reduce the age of a tall individual in order to fit hi/her in junior level it posses a lot of questions and doubts.it is easier to do it to a petit individual without a question.I am not doubting the skills of people who are smaller in stature, my point is ,allowed them to play with their actual age and the outcome would be beneficial in the future.

not until we desist from age cheating, the national team(BS) can never win any crucial tournament.

I agree with you 100%. This guy doesnt seem to learn from past errors. After watching the match against Cape Verde, I thought he would make personnel and tactical changes against B Faso. Rather, he repeated the same mistake, and we promptly lost. He was so predictable, the B Faso coach knew what Appiah would do (Paul Put admitted so) and lo and behold he did so.

Dear Raymond,
I think Kwesi must be credited for making some good decisions as well. A semi-finalist in a tournament with 10 debutants is no mean an achievement. Kwesi made some mistakes no doubt but at the given circumstance with Annan's injury and a 2 yellow cards of Rabiu it was obviuosly difficult.Only a few including yourself would have discovered Fatau like Kwesi did. He needs to be given a second chance given that he has conquered Africa with the under 23 and that the Players accord him the maximum respect. Bringing his assistant who failed with him defeat your passionate argument. Sometimes baises can cloud our reasoning.

Reaching the semi-final in any competition by itself is not a failure. The writer makes it to look like there is a pattern: Losing to Mali twice doesn't make it a pattern; in other words, twice does not make a pattern. You can't place two figures in an examination and ask a candidate to identify a pattern -- the third figure can change the trend! On the other hand, Zambia beat us ONCE in the AFCON 12. Their beating us in the WC is not a setback, as it is a competition played in league form. If the Mali scenario were a home-and-away basis, it would've been a different story -- so don't 'add' it to the Zambian case.
The writer is just afraid of the two points Zambia got on a silver platter, but those of us who are always optimistic take that to mean that Zambia went and won in Sudan just like in any league game.
Do the math and report back, Mr. Pessimistic Writer!
Calling for Konadu to take over is a soccer coup d'etat. Leave both of them to work in peace; don't break their bond of friendship and hard work or sow a seed of disunity.
I don close my docket!

Zambia, the holders nkO?
I couldn't have agreed more on MRAA's divorce with his captain in the sense that Gyan is very much not the Gyan I knew in 2006. 3y3 m3 s3 wasa!!
Another thing is, none of the players though talented, had exhibited any skills the likes of Abedi Pele, Yegoala, Bayie and Polo.
To wit, If really MRAA is in charge, he must overhaul his selection practices and get the best on board regardless of who plays where.

IF GHANA DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR THE 2014 WORLD CUP IN BRAZIL, THAT WILL NOT BE THE FIRST TIME IN THE COUNTRY'S HISTORY. THE WORLD CUP STARTED IN THE 1930s?, AND WITH GREAT GHANAIAN FOOTBALLERS LIKE AGGREY FYNN, CK CYAMFI, OSEI KOFI, DOGO MORO, ADDO ODAMETEY, MFUM, ROBERT MENSAH, ABUKASI, KWASI OWUSU AND DAN OWUSU, ADDOQUAYE LARYEA, OPOKU AFRIYIE, POLO, YAWSON, RAZAK, HAMMOND, PETER LAMPTEY, VC 10, BABY JET, ESSIEN, ABEDI PELE, AKWASI APPIAH, AND ALL, GHANA WENT TO THE WORLD CUP FINALS ONLY IN 2006 FOR THE FIRST TIME, AND WENT AGAIN IN 2010! SO, MR. RAYMOND YEBOAH, IF GHANA DOES NOT GO IN 2014, IT WOULD NOT MAKE OF YOU A PROPHET, EVEN THE PROPHET OF NATIONAL DOOM THAT YOU RELENTLESSLY SEEK TO BE. IF CAF WITH THE ANTI-ANGLOPHONE DICTATOR ISSA HAYATOU DEEMED IT CREDIBLE TO GIVE 3 POINTS FREELY TO ZAMBIA IN THE SAME GROUP WITH GHANA, IT IS THEIR PROBLEM, BUT WE WILL DO OUR BEST NEVERTHELESS. WAS ISSA HAYATOU AND CAF NOT CFELEBRATING THAT GHANA WAS GOING TO PLAY SEMI-FINALS ON A BAD FOOTBALL PITCH, CLAIMING ALL IS WELL? RAYMOND, YOU MAY WISH TO KEEP PRETENDING TO IGNORE THE REAL FACTS, FOR EXAMPLE: THAT OUR DEPENDABLE MID-FIELD ANTHONY ANNAN, AND ALSO RISING STAR BOAKYE-YIADOM COULD NOT PLAY FOR US AF AFCON13. THAT PAINTSILL WHO WAS PLAYING HIS HEART OUT FOR GHANA, HAD TO LEAVE THE FIELD EARLY WITH INJURY DURING THE SEMI-FIANALS. PERSONALLY, I ONLY PRAY FOR THE DAY WHEN A FULL BLACK STAR TEAM WILL PLAY AGAIN, AND WILL EVER PRAY TO GOD FOR THAT. IT IS NOT A QUESTION OF LOCAL COACH AKWASI APPIAH. IT IS FOOTBALL, AND IT IS SOMETIMES VERY VERY CRUEL, BUT LUCK SMILES ON THE LOSER ALSO, ONE DAY! HAPPILY!

It is for the authorities to do logical, scientific and factual analysis in the current debate going on in relation to the job of the current coach continuing as the head coach of the National team, the Blackstars.
I have already said after the dismal performance of the Blackstars afetr the Cape Verde match that it was a just a matter of time for the stars to be exposed in its bankrupt tactiocal and technical disposition.
As to whether the current coach can take Ghana to the world cup, I wish to say it will be a disaster if we dare.
That arena is for big coaches in terms of critical thinking.Soccer is purely tactical but it is a bonus if a team has individual gifted players to break down very strong barriers mounted by the opposing team.
In the light of these issues, do our tactical men have the abilities to offer a competition to other bigger coaches?
