GYAN HAS A HISTORY OF MISSING CRUCIAL PENALTIES IN THE COURSE OF PLAY. I HAVE SPELLED THAT HERE MANY TIMES. THEREFORE, U CANT ALLOW HIM TO CONTINUE THIS HABIT. HOWEVER, IN SHOOTOUT SITUATIONS, GYAN MUST BE CHOSEN TO PLAY BCOS HE HAS SHOWN HE IS GOOD AT THAT POINT....LOOK AT WCUP 2010. HE MISSED, BUT CAME BACK N SCORED IN THE SHOOTOUT. THIS ALONE TELLS U THAT AA DIDNT DO HIS HOMEWORK. HE DIDNT ALLOW THE PLAYERS TO SIMULATE PENALTY KICKS IN TRAINING. HE TOOK OUT HIS BEST PENALTY TAKER IN WAKASSO, KNOWING VERY WELL UR TEAM WERE HEADING FOR FIRING SQUAD. WILL JJ TAKE OUT HIS BEST SHARPSHOOTER WHEN JUDGES AND CORRUPT PPL NEED TO BE KILLED AT THE BEACH? NO WAY! AA/QQ HAS A MENTAL PROBLEM SO GET RID OF HIM AND CHECK HIM INTO ANKAFUL....GYAN AS CAPTAIN SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE FIRST TAKER, NOT VORSAH. U CALL GYAN A CAPTAIN? I have a firm belief that this Stephen Appiah has something against the Black Stars management team, Asamoah Gyan or the GFA. Ghanaians should stop all the bull crap and fix the problems. I personally think Appiah should be given more time but even if Appiah has to be changed to be assistant in favour of Maxwell Konadu and Sillas Tetteh let's do that and stop all the bull crap of the hidden tribalism agenda. After all Appiah was good as an assistant that's why he was given the job, unfortunately he has disappointed at the top post.

Did you read my comments very well or you're just acting on impulse? I know you hate Kwasi Appiah because you've been against him from the initial stages. Kwasi Appiah is less than one year on the job, so if you fire him and the next coach fails to qualify for the World Cup, will you fire him too?
You may be right that he could be replaced by Konadu or Tetteh but not Desailly who thinks he should be overpaid. Desailly made it clear to all that he doesn't want to be the Black stars coach so why force him?
You may call me dumb but you have made no sense in your comments either. Monkey or no monkey, Ghana will be the loser if Appiah is fired before the World Cup. It will be better to fire him after the World Cup qualifiers if he fails. GhFUO or whatever you call yourself, it's time to start using your brains instead of your emotions.

If you're a TRUE player and you'll chicken out when the time of reckoning comes simply because you've been maligned before then I don't know what sort of leader you are. This speaks to the foolishness of those at the helm of affairs. Why do you reward a player who asks for a "time out" from the BS because people 'cursed' him out with the captainship? Any sensible leader would have picked his brains to ascertain his mental fortitude and also find out from him if he had the wherewithal to put his 'life' on the line for Mother Ghana when push came to shove before entrusting such leadership authority on him. Stephen Appiah in my opinion said all the right things and that's the honest truth and nothing less. As for the other 'Konadu, Tetteh crap' I'll not be judgmental about that. It's your opinion and I respect that.

Reading what he is reported to have said make me lose patience for him and ask that the authorities sack him immediately after the AFCON 2013.
He even substituted Mubarak Wakaso when the game was traveling close to penalty shoot out.
Useless coach. Sellas Tetteh will do much better with Black Stars.

"I know most of the boys and those who are good penalty takers were not amongst those who took the kicks." Appiah clarified.
So now my question to Appiah is who set-up the numbers before the players decided to take the penalties? I thought it was the responsibility of the coach to select the penalty kickers? It seems that he did selected the players but through nervousness, the players decided not to even make attempt to kick it.
Folks, we are being too hash on the coach. What else can he do if he asked but a player beg him not to let him take it? He couldn't have done anything different. In his book, he had the best players who could have scored the penalties but were not that bold to take part and according to his saying, even the captain refused. Do you blame them?
Folks, I didn't know why Isaac Vorsah of all players would decide to take a penalty. I questioned that decision and now the truth is out. The player stepped out and took it first because the best ones among them didn't have the courage to do so.
With this, I think we should be calm and have patience. The reason for our inability to play the final is no ones fault and certainly not the coaches' fault as well. It was bound to happened. Let us just forget it and rally behind the team for they may be able to take us far if we are in one accord. Let unity prevail in here and learn from this mistake. Remember, it is a new team, a new coach, barely a year old in office and has taking us to the semi-finals.
We shouldn't be that ungrateful of throwing the towel but rather be grateful of accepting the fact that we were not there yet but the team was trying hard to get us there.
It is about time we support them with our all, for we can't afford to dismantle the team by breaking their confidence spirit through our hash criticisms. The coach should be allowed to handle the team till the end of his contract for what he just demonstrated, it is obvious that he has the potential to take us far. It is just that he is new in the job. None of us could have taken less than a year to take this new crop to even the quarter finals.
Therefore, let us give them a break.

Let me ask you this question if every player on the field had begged the coach out not to take a PK as per your statement then we should walk off the field without taken the PK. You cannot beg your boss out of a job or responsibility these players are on the field to play to the coach instruction and no player should pick and choose. You are wrong wrong and wrong again. Go do that to coaches like Sir Alex Ferguson, José Mário dos Santos Mourinho Félix and our own Charles Kumi (C.K.) Gyamfi maybe you were not born in 1982 we won that again by PK.

Teach the team ball possession. This is what is missing. Ethiopia did well on this.
Players needs to move to empty places for balls. This was well done by 2006 WC squad that took them 2 minute to reach opponent goal area.(but Gyan messed up)
The Black Stars situation is similar to that of 2006 when they failed to progress from the prelims in the Africa cup only to dazzle the World in the World cup.
Take the loss in good faith and improve on it next time.
Maintain the disciplinary status and do not compromise on this. Those who are criticizing are the same people who did not want a local coach because they said the foreign players will not respect the local coach. Now disciplinary action is in effect and the same people are crying again. Stick to your guns on discipline. It is expected that those players affected by the disciplinary action will change their behaviour for the better.

Thank you so much for stressing this point! It is the job of a coach to get his team prepared for tense situations. I expected him to have prepared his captain to take either the first or the second kick though there are several armchair coaches who had declared that he was not to take any more such kicks. That is why he is the coach. The situation demanded him to make decisions and he failed. Pulling Wakaso off the pitch was wrong on so many levels. Bringing on Asante and withdrawing Asamoah into defence made Gyan situation as a lone striker though. I believe he could have brought on Akaminko to replace Paintsil and maintained size in his defence. By statrting with your best kickers in a shootout the confidence builds in your team as the team scores and he did not take advantage of that situation. All said he is a very confused man.

The truth of the matter is that Ghanaians sometimes talk and criticise toooo much.Drogba scored an own goal but nobody criticised,he missed a couple of penalty kicks but no critics because folks understand that all world class players sometimes break hearts when it comes to pk but in Ghana we seem to think that pk should always hit the net.No player can ever guarantee a pk will hit the net it is just risk taking but in Ghana we still donot get it.So looking at what Gyan went throw I can really understand his stand and where he is coming from but piece for him now is that he understand that he is professional and so should have a tough skin.Look at what all great people go throw eg.JJ,Kuffuor,Mills,Mahama, keeper Laryea Kingston,John Mensah,Muntare,Essien etc. When you are great there are others who just jealous your greatness you should know that and there are others who always think anything you can do they can always do better and there are others who always never appreciate anything coming from another fellow only what is coming from them.So you know all these better by now.Afterall if you donot know by now you should know that you and Appiah,Mensah,Paintsil,Muntare,Kingston,A.Asamoah etc.have all paid your dues already to mother Ghana. You sent us to the world cup not 1x but 2x.It will forver remain on record. You guys are great know that one.If you can not stand the heat you really donot have leadership qualities. You have to pay no mind.

I totally agree with our former captain Stephen Appiah cus having ex-players at tournaments will help boost the moral of our current side, and why does it seem to me that all our players play well till the crucial games and get there and flop, arrogance, and selfishness will kill our team, please no matter what game we play we need to take them seriously cus not only does it help our football foundation in ghana but it also helps our rankings in the world i'm sadly disappointed in our team @ 2013 African cup we really should have won it all seeing the position we got to, well all the best...But Pride and Discipline is something ghana as a team needs to work on to build on to brazil 2014..

thank you Appiah. this is my point Gyan should have showed more leadership by taking the first kick. a leader who does not show leadership for fear of criticism is not a leader and i did not understant why he has to stay on the pitch for the full 130 minutes if he know he is not going to take the penalty.
kwasi Appiah did not show good judgement knowing that he is not going to take part in the penalty

So whose job is it to select and encourage the best penalty takers in the team to fulfill their roles? Is that not part of the coach's responsibilities? It surely is. Every coach worth the salt will know who his best spot kick takers are and take control of the situation, psyche up these players, tell them they are the best and that they will score their kick and take the country into the finals. Roberto De Mateo did the same for Chelsea in the Champions League final and they did the business. That is the difference between a top class coach and a mediocre one. To come and tell us after the event that Djan should have taken a spot kick is just bull s.... You failed as a coach, simple.

IS BETTER HE DID NOT TAKE PART OF THIS.
GYAN WAS JUST WALKING ABOUT ON THE FIELD LOOKING BEHIND AND THROWING HIS HANDS IN THE AIR. A WASTE OF SPACE.
What would have happen if Gyan had taken the penalty and lost. Ghanaians crucified Gyan for missing penalties and many wanted Gyan not to take penalties anymore and yes he did that.
"I know most of the boys and those who are good penalty takers were not amongst those who took the kicks." Appiah clarified.
So now my question to Appiah is who set-up the numbers before the players decided to take the pen ...

LEAVE GYAN ALONE BECAUSE GHANAIANS THINKING IS VERT SHALLOW AND ONE SIDED

Akwasi Appiah just like most Asantes is Tribalistic. He hates the Abedis and was looking for a flimsy excuse to exclude them. Anyway he is not a coach but a security man.
Hahahahahaha
Akwasi Appiah has no coaching credentials. The Asantefo Nkye Ndi GFA led by his corrupt friend Nyantakyi
he did not take part in the penalty shootout for ghanaians to see how useless Mr A A is. G F A pls kick that idoit A A b4 it is too late
