Keeping Kwadwo Asamoah at left back is a brilliant idea. It is working beautifully, and adds punch to the attack whenever he comes forward. We are missing Annah in defence though.

I think the current Black Starts needed his dribbling and scoring magic. I never knew the Black Stars had their own plane during the Nkrumah days. That was a good lesson for me.

On their return Kwame Adarkwa the wicked dribbler was the first to execute the overhead scissor kick to the amazement of Joe Lartey and Festus Addae.Then the magic began with Baba Yara, Kwame Adarkwa, Aggrey Fynn, Mohammed Salisu, Ofei Dodoo ( the circus players, and goal scorers); Dogo Moro, Ben Kusi, Franklin Crenstil, Emmanuel Oblitey, Addo Odametey ( no nonsense defenders), Edward Acquah, Wiberforce Mfum, Kofi Pare ( Thunderbolt shooters with reliable accuracy. The penalty takers were Aggrey Fynn and Addo Odametey. Ball possession in each game is amazingly over 85 per cent. The goal keepers were Dodoo Ankrah, Addoquaye Laryea, Naawu. When they toured Europe in 1964 they lost 1--2 to the World IX team. At home in 1962 a quasi-Italian national team with Riva was beaten 5--2. Salisu scored 3 goals.

This was tactically a poor game. It makes no sense to playing all out attacking football with no possession when you are in the lead. Midfield needs to hold onto the ball to frustrate our opponents. Right now we are just going forward and back...never holding.

By the way, what happened to the coach? Why he couldn't change his game when leading by 2-0? All we needed was the 3 points and we had it. Counter attack strategic game would have help from when we were leading by 2-0. Appiah could make it but will need to learn from these mistakes.

He should bring a better game plan next time. All the games I set for the coach to win so that I could develop confidence for him, he came short in all of them. Zambia in the WC qualifying match, he lost 0-1, Now, Congo DR, he drew 2-2. A game he had it by the neck, he released the opponent. This is the difference between a coach and a coach. You know what I mean.

He is tactically rigid, particularly when he refuses to adjust to events on match day. Reinforce the coaching team with a tactician to stop this tactical breakdown as matches progress. Getting the right team ready for match day is half the battle. A tactician as head coach will have us winning easy matches but never progressing to win the difficult ones. Keep faith with the coach for what he does well.

He is filling what has traditionally been a hole in our defence. He is much better coming forward from deep to create scoring opportunities from the left wing. Keep in him in a forward position and he is easily neutralized.

Poor team selection, poor tactics. Why was Fatau Dauda, who has no major international experience selected ahead of Kwarasey? Why select Akaminko ahead of Jonathan Mensah and Vorsah who are better and mre experienced international defenders? Why play Kwadwo Asamoah at full back when he is a creative attacking midfielder?

When we went 2 up why did he not set up the team to defend better, knowing that DRC would try to get back into the game by attacking more?

I have maintained that Kwasi Appiah is not a qualified coach, and he was only appointed as Black Stars (assistant) coach because of his friendship with Kwasi Nyantakyi. The success of the Stars under his management has been due to the backroom staff, not him. Whenever he has to take decisions, he is found woefully wanting.

He would do well to seek the advice of his backroom staff before making decisions. The Stars need to learn to defend better and concentrate throughout the game. They must improve their stamina.

Regardless of how Dauda performed today, such rash decisions by a coach can destroy team chemistry. Goalkeeping is a very crucial position so it's not good to make such random unjustified changes. Kwarasey has so far proved to be a good and reliable goalkeeper so why the demotion? Ghanaians may think it's not a big deal now, but, believe me, this would come back to hunt Akwasi Appiah in the future.

But those who understood the strength of the team that DR Congo has assembled, would agree that Ghana was even lucky to earn a draw not that they were better than us but simply because we were not psychologically prepared for them. It was therefore a good result. There is hope in the fact that Richmond Boakye Yiadom, Vorsah. Jonathan Mensah and some other good players are yet to join the action. This means, Coach Kwasi Appiah has viable options to consider.
Whether Kwadwo Asamoah should continue to play left-back when we have very good left-backs there to select, has now been answered. Kwadwo Asamoah is a top forward player as far as Ghana is concerned. In Italy where he plays as a left-back, the defensive qualities of the other players ensure that, he is not exposed as a defender. And because of his abundant stamina, he organises attack from defence. Black Star players don’t possess defensive qualities like players of Juventus hence the Congo match exposed him so much.
Jose Mourinho could afford to field Essien as Chelsea’s central defender but it would have been a disaster for the Black Stars to field him as such. In fact the European game is different from the way we play in Ghana. Our midfielders are not such strong at dribbling and still holding the ball but they are very good in moving into space and receiving one-touch passes.
The ball is clearly in the court for coach Kwasi Appiah, he must revise his team.

Seriously just like any ghanaian fan I am disappointed in our team's performance but we should rather rally behind them in these difficult moments. To be truthful DR Congo is also a great side we all watched the match and can attest to this fact. Probably what irritates us is the fact that we were leading and easily lost focus when it mattered most. I think to win this tournament we need to really do a lot of psychological work on the players. For instance Asamoah Gyan after missing that glorious chance suddenly allowed it to affect him. At one point a player had to help him on his feet after his strike had been saved for he seemed so much on the low side. The other players of the Blackstars became sluggish when they should have pumped in more energy. But all in all we did our best it's left to us to rally behind our dear national side. It's also left to Apiah to do his best for our team. Jerry Akaminko should be rested for the next match as we need Vorsah who has the experience and height to help make the defence much more compact. We also need Asamoah in his usual position (midfield) where his skills will be of much use. Jonathan Mensah should also return to the squad. He's a material too worthy to be on the bench. Long life our nation Ghana.

Mine was the penalty. Even though the defender slipped, Mbokani wasn't going anywhere, we had cover from Boye and the rest of the midfield who could have stopped the attack. However, he took matters into his own hands, decided to pull the guy's shirt then put his hands up and act as if he had done nothing wrong. What a fool!
Until now, i've just realised how much we were missing characters like dede and muntari. Appiah if you're wise, bring in Vorsah and afful, get rid of Wakaso & Akaminko and play Kwadwo up the field, simple!

Coach Kwasi Appiah and Maxwell Konadu should be bold to ask the Derek to change his style of play which puts defenders into unnecessary presure and in most cases commit blunders, one of which resulted in a penalty kick against us.
Coach Claud Le-Roy studied our team and saw where the loop holes are. We still haven't mastered our game in the midfield. There's more to do; we need to string our passes together properly, then we'll be able to win decisively! There's hope, if we can correct our mistakes.

I think Ghana has achieved a very great result against the DRC. The problem with the DRC is that they are the only team that played no friendly match. So there was no point of reference to learn about their game. But they watched all our matches and our friendly matches and planned. The DRC does not have a strategy. They just go into your penalty area and score. With such a team, you cannot easily predict their moves and make tactical changes. So we should be lucky to get that draw. Concerning Kwadwo Asamoah being used as a defender, it is a tactical play used by Italian teams. Due to the rough nature of the Serie A, most teams have adopted AC Milan's strategy built around Maldini in the 90s. The strategy is simple, do not let your star defender play in the heart of midfield. Otherwise he would be marked so much and he would be ineffective. Keep him as a lateral defender. From time to time, he would come in and make good strikes. And it worked for us in the first 50 minutes. Asamoah Gyan, Christian Atsu, Adomah, Agyeman Badu and all the forwards were marked by the Congolese. Kwadwo Asamoah scored because he came in as unmarked on two occasions. Without those two goals, we would have lost by 2 goals. So think about it and appreciate the wisdom of the coach. Things should not always be straightforward. It must sometimes be a little covert.

Football is full of uncertainties and i'm among the few who believes formation doesn't win matches but the players on the field. Unless a coach could bring up a formation which take into consideration the possibility of his team scoring an own goal or a possibility of one of his players given a faulty pass which would resulted in their loosing the match, formation is just the arrangement of players on the field of play.

I have a few question to ask.
1. Did the formation of the black stars influence ASAMOAH GYAN to miss good scoring opportunities?

2.Did the formation influenced AKAMINKO foolish awarded penalty kick?

I can go on and on. James, KODWO Asamoah had played majority of his caps for Ghana as offensive midfielder and he had only 1 goal to his credit.He was used today as left winger and he scored a goal made wonderful interception which could have easily be in the net of the BLACK STAR and we think the coach should be blamed?

KOJO isn't a defender but when JUVENTUS uses him in that position he always get the support from the left midfielder anytime pressure is on JUVE but in the case of Ghana it was no.How many times did ALBERT ADOMAH fell back to defend and helped KODWO? what about ATSU? I am using those two players because they were inter-positioning on the left and right wings.Sometimes Adomah move to the right wings ATSU on the left wing and the opposite is true but none helped the left back KWODJO.The plan wasn't a bad but the players didn't execute it correctly.

Let hope during our next match the left winger support him.By the way where was ATSU during the whole game?He was very quite and unable to turn any defender on.This the difference between DR CONGO and LESOTHO.

If the coach uses short lateral defender such as HARRISON AFFUL against Mali who has tall player it will suicidal for Ghana and the Black stars will be eliminated early .May God forbid

Let me go straight to my point.Ghana vrs DR CONGO is like ARSENAL VRS BOLTON, CHELSEA VRS WIGAN OR CHELSEA VRS EVERTON.It doesn't follow a form guild or the team with good players on a paper. I didn't bet today because i decided not to.I wanna move away from what i called "PASSIONATE BETTING" to profession betting so i don't bet on Ghana matches which i know the end reason will go against Ghana.

DR Congo have been a torn in Ghana's flesh every now and then.We drew with them during the qualifying series of the 2006 World Cup and the nearly bet Ghana at Kumasi.For a sport bettor, you should move clear out of such matches. I would have bet GHANA LOOSE OR DRAW but as i have stated before i don;t bet on Ghana to loose even if i know they will so i leave those games without betting.

Sorry if you lost money today by betting on Ghana but Ghana will win it match against Mali if the needed correction is done.Also this is the first game of the tournament for Ghana and they don't perform wonderful in their first games in tournament

When Ghana bet TUNISIA and Egypt in those two friendly matches, everyone including the team thought they were invisible.This is a wake up call to them and the next match will be a win .

If K Asamoah plays at left back in Juve does not mean he must play same for Ghana; let him play in the midfield where he is comfortable. Atsu should also play in the wide and not in the centre to make him more effective. Asamoah Gyan should not be intimidated by goalkeepers! Kadiaba had the better of him.
