But let me correct a few historical facts you misplaced.
1. Milla was 38 years old at the 1990 World Cup
2. Paulo Rossi's feats of best player and top scorer were achieved at the 1982 FIFA World Cup in Spain
3. Kuffour's misery of being sent home was at Mali 2002 and I don't remember it was for going to disco in Abidjan

How was Ayew unfairly treated? People like you and the writer are the reason why Blackstars of modern times are having problems winning anything. Soccer is a team work and when you have one individual who wants to be treated as a special person, it creates animosity amongst the rest of the team.
Dede is a great Player but I don't think he gets along well with most of the other Blacksta Players. He is undisciplined Player. Do you remember what he did when the Coach took him out of a game?
What do you expect the Coach to do when he gave him two chancesd to report and told the Coach he couldn't report on that monday because he was seeing his Doctor on that monday? He wanted to report on the same WQednesday when the Coach was to submit his final 23 man squad. What if he was not fit and Kwesi Appiah includes him in the 23 man squad? The same Monday he supposedly was going to see his Doctor, he flew to Morocco to join his Marseilles teamates.
Coach Appiah is instituing discipline in the team and any Player who cannot go with it can hit the road. We have Players who can do what Ayew can so if he think he is special, he is deceiving himself. He should change his attitude or will be happy to see him out of the team permanently. We don't need any Player to wreck the team unity.

I know DEDE is a great Player but soccer is a team game that needs united team to succeed. DEDE has allowed success to seep into his head and he is not admired by a lot of the Blackstars members for his behaviour when the Coach pulled him out of a game.

He could only take 23 players and had already said that no unfit player will be taken to AFCON. Dede was under treatment and mind you, he has not attained the status yet as others you cited so,he can't dictate to the team. Dede is a great player and I admire him a lot but one thing we should be wary of is dicipline... the reason why the Oyibo coaches could do what the Nigerian coaches could not do is their system of training...Their upbringing do not allow such nonsense and they owe no aoplogy..Look at what they did to Shaibu and when his wife complained what happend to him? So is it Coach Shaibu's fault?... We kill our own and then turn round to either accuse or complain about non-performance ....What you did here is rather a dis-service to..Ghana.. ayew had played in 3 nations cup without a silverware so kwesi appiah will stay on whether ghana wins the afcon or not.
i get the impression the more the blackstars impress, the more the admirer's of dede get aggrieved.
dede is a good player but not necessarily an exceptional team player. that is where the problem lies.
i don't think he comes near players like olabode williams, emmanuel yartey, edmund copson, owusu afriyie, emmanuel duah, dan addo, adu tutu skelley who are exceptionally gifted and skillful players weave effectively into a team play.
blackstars currently are not there yet but looking at t he way they are playing it tells me that the coach is oriented towards team work and therefore injury or no injury dede style and approach could not fit into his team plan.
dede himself knows that there was no way he was going to walk into the first team even though has been able to keep a lead on the number 10 jersey. with players like wakaso, atsu, adoma available even if dede should start a game 90 minutes was highly going to elude him and he has shown in the past both at under 20 level and the blackstars level that he is unable to cope with substitution because he is not a team player.
so with the captain's band in the grip of a more senior player, the bench seemed to be parading some premadona's dede had made his mind not to go to the tournament. so those people who keep saying he has been axed, he has been axed are only pleasing themselves.
you see i saw this coming after the last nations cup. management of t he blackstars was immensely frustrated that some players were persuing individual glory at the expense of the team and the resort to juju. in fact apart from the coach indicating that in his report, kwesi nyantakyi almost nearly mentioned the name or names of the player or players who were guilty of causing disorganisation in the national team.

This piece is right to the point, ever since the exclusion of Anre Ayew from the team,i have been trying hard to write something like this about the issue. As for me, if i were Akwasi Appiah, for some section of Ghanaians not to view me, as a very vindictive person, then all i have to do is call a press conference and address this, "he and Abedi Ayew Pele issue" once and for all and appeal to Ghanaians to put this behind us as a nation and forge ahead in unity for the common good of Ghana soccer. Because many are blaming him for the exclusion of Andre Ayew, because of him, Akwasi Appiah and Abedi Ayew Pele issue, when the captaincy was taken from him and given to Abedi Ayew Pele who had then just returned from France,in 1992, the reason given at that time by the coach was that he Abedi Pele can speak both english and the french languege fluently, even though to me that is not absolutely right, but then, there is still some sense in the coaches decision. After all Abedi Ayew Pele did not made himself the captain, the coach handed it to him.I personaly want Akwasi Appiah to do something about this issue, it has draged on for far too long, which has unfortunately created the Abedi Ayew Pele faction and that of Akwasi Appiah/Anthony Yeboah faction which has given rise to this spillovers and fallouts. To the Ayew family, the only thing i don't like about them is for Rahim, to have come out publicly that the captaincy for the national team be handed to his brother, Andre Ayew. To me that is a recipe for confusion, even though everybody in Ghana know Andre Ayew is a potential captain of the national team, and not for Rahim to say.And also incase they are invited together to play, and and there was a goal celebration they should celebrate together as a team and not one brother looking for the other brother to celebrate with.

Kwesi Appiah selected Jordan Ayew to the team when he was not even qualified and I remember at that time people saying Jordan was invited because his father was Abedi Pele. Now that he was not selected, the some people are saying it was because of the conflict between Appiah and Abedi Pele.
Coach Appiah gave Dede every chance to report to camp and he refused. If I was Appiah, I would not invite him to Blackstars again until he change his disrespectful attitude.

Good article. You hit the nail right on the head. every player has a personal physician who takes care of him. Will all the people criticizing dede leave their personal physician for any other doctor to see them. No, but we want dede to do that. AA still had 24 hours to make his decision but he didnt. He prefered to make his decision based on assumptions that the man does not want to play for his country. Go back and check dede's record. Why did michael essien leave madrid to lodon to see his personal doctor. Are there no good doctors in madrid? you tell me

We are fed up with such maliciously wicked backlashing and nonsense from self-styled coaches and amateur sports journalists who presuppose to have all the panacea to challenges in our national soccer teams. Nobody discounts the quality and ability of Dede Ayew, but the fact also cannot be lost on you "know-it-all-but shallow-minded sports journalists" the reserves the preorogative to invite and include in his team those he deems fit and ready to deliver. So DDD, what is your beef here? Such unwarranted, malicious criticisms without very cogent reasoning must cast into the ocean. Nigeria isn't Ghana, just in case you are out of touch with historical and geographical facts. Our ears have had enough of such absurd deafening from you.
