Betway holds 'thought leadership' workshop

Betway the mobile/Web based sports betting company, as part of their social responsibility and stakeholder engagement program have held a workshop for coaches in the country. The workshop, dubbed “The Betway Thought Leadership Seminar”, came off last Thursday, 6th October 2016 at the Alisa Hotel, Accra.

The workshop aimed at helping local coaches develop the game in the area of development and marketing, had a number of premier league coaches participating.

Head of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), Cudjoe FIanoo, opened the workshop with a prayer. Also present were the Technical Director of the GFA Francis Oti Akenten, head coach of the national U20 team, Didi Dramani, head of University of Ghana Sports, Alhaji Yussif, head coach of Asante Kotoko Michael Osei as well as interim coach of Accra Heart of Oak, Yaw Preko.

The coaches were taken through certain aspects of the game, including the technical and medical sides of the game, the relationship between coaches and the media and brand building and development of football clubs in Ghana.

CEO of Forwardzone, Ashley Kotzin, a South Africa-based sports management outfit, took the particiants through the first session. He touched on the role of the coach a leader of his team both on and off the pitch

Second session had West Ham's head of Medical and Sports Science Steijn Vanderbrouke sharing knowledge on injuries, while getting optimal performance from players.

West Ham First team fitness coach, Tom Taylor, took charge of the third session throwing light on the technical development of the game, from West Ham’s point of view.

Final session which was on the media and football was conducted by Rex Danquah.

Prior to the commencement of the workshop, a minute silent was observed for the late Fred Osam Duodo, who passed on during the week. He was one of the finest technical brains in the country.

The final event was the Mall Activation, which had Andre Dede Ayew and Ashley Fletcher interacting with fans and signing autographs at the Accra Mall.
