For example, in Germany here, i have two friends one in my church ( CHURCH OF PENTECOST) and the other a CATHOLIC. they are all Frafra guys from the northern region of GH, the one is my church is called Samson Kwasi Adae and the other called Yaw Asare. That speak the Akan language well but they have hid their real northern name and using Ashanti names. I asked them why they chose Ashanti names in of their native names and they said they just like Akan the Akan names. So I'm asking you, they using Ashanti names make them Ashantis? Go to many other foreign countries and you will see many northerners, Safwis, Ewes, Krobos who are using Akan names. Even in Ghana there, many other tribes prefer to use Akan names instead of their native names. Come to Europe here and see many Nigerians who are using Ghana passports with Ghanaian names and it will surprise you.
