QUARTEY MEETS RAMIREZ ON FEB 3

Accra, Jan 30 Ike "Bazooka" Quartey, World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight champion, has flown to paris to meet Ramirez Acquino of the Dominican Republic in a 10 round warm up bout on Saturday, February 3.

Quartey told airport reporters that he is using the fight to prepare for the defence of his crown against American Vince Phillip in the United States in March. Raminez, 28, has a fight record of 20 with four defeats and two draws.

Quartey's record stands at 31 fights without a defeat, winning 29 through knockouts.

A spokesman for Ringcraft promotions and management syndicate, handlers of Quartey said the champion will stay in Paris for three weeks to prepare for his title defence bout. Quartey is accompanied by his trainer, Ataa Oko Odamtten.
