Silly writer. What a bad article and a bad attitude to be promoting. Once burundi stopped us from qualifying despite all our stars and another time liberia did, not forgetting that a rat tagged zambia team stopped us claiming a long over due afcon title. Yes history is good but england always talks like that but since 1966 they have not won competition however much they reminence about how they use to beat holland 7-0, france etc

If those who handle the BS as well as the players themselves don't see any threat from the other teams in their group as this writer seems to be doing, then qualifying for the 2018 WC in Russia will not happen. That had been our attitude prior to the 2006 qualifiers. We looked at how good our players were, compared them with others in our group on paper and we assumed we would qualify no matter what. Sadly, even with super stars like Mohammed Polo (who understandably claims to be better than Messi), Abdul Razak, Abedi Pele, Anthony Yeboah etc, we could not qualify for WC before 2006.
The truth is that, football is not played on paper or by past results. It is what happens on the real field of play in every match that matters.
The hunger of every country to answer the roll call at the WC is no secret. Every team would therefore put in everything to qualify. At the end of the day, the team that is best prepared mentally, physically and spiritually and exercise best discipline on the field of play, is the one that will qualify. In any competition, it is not enough be be just good, but you must outdo your competitors in every trick of the game to come out victorious. I remember a WC qualfier match with Morocco in Kumasi and there was a freekick against Ghana and all the Ghanaian players massed around the referee in protest. The Moroccans did not mind the protest. All they did was to quickly take the freekick and before the Black Stars could understand the match was still ongoing, it was an easy goal against Ghana. The final result was 2-2 which gave advantage to Morocco to finally qualify.
In fact, all past results mean nothing. After all, even if past results are anything to go by, then it is Egypt that should be rejoicing and not Ghana because by the writer's own analysis, they hold the best head-to-head record in the group. Whichever way one looks at it, it is foolish to start partying ahead of the qualifiers.

whoever wrote this piece must be drunk! If anyone thinks that Ghana's group E give her automatic participation to WC-2018, must be dreaming. Instead of trying to help map out a winning strategy, people would rather start jubilating as if we're already in the finals at the WC. That's bogus!
Ghana has to maintain a quality coach who has the vision and the expertise to steer the Black Stars to qualify to WC-2018 in Russia because there's no guarantee that with the Egypt, Uganda and Congo in our group, qualifying to the football tournament is a done deal!
Already, Coach Avram Grant seems to have had enough and wants out of his coaching contract after the AFCON-2017 tournament, because of what some analysts believe is the bad behaviour of attitude of Ghana's sport fans and journalists towards the coach. People just hurl insults at a coach who many believe is our best coach yet, judging from his tactical knowledge in the game and his cool nature. GFA should begin to find other options, in case Coach Grant decideds to leave after his contract is over! He had been enthusiastic in the beginning; he'd hope to guide the team to the next world cup when he signed on as Ghana's coach, until the insults began pouring in.
Strangely, some Ghanaians think our team is the best and so no matter the kind of coach we choose to sign to handle the Black Stars, Ghana will somehow bring the Cup home. That's funny to think that way. The fact is that Ghana will have problems to qualify, if we don't work hard towards our qualification strategy. That's the gospel truth---take it or leave it. Everyone in our group isn't cheap or "push-overs" every team is tough, esp in modern football.
Ghana needs to plan very well ahead of the coming WC and how to qualify instead of some writers assuming participation to the tournament is going to be achieved on a silver platter. That's bogus!
