Six Begin Race For premiership Thurs

The national Division One middle league is set to kick off at three centres on Thursday.This follows the successful completion of the sub-middle league in all the three zones.

While the Zone One competition ended yesterday, those of Zones Two and Three ended at the weekend.

In the last Zone One matches played yesterday, Catholic Stars thrashed Bronkyempem 3-1 while Kintampo United also whacked Yeji Stars 3-0. By that result, Catholic Stars have qualified for the middle league with 7 points alongside Kintampo United who had 4 points.

Feyenord Academy, Gold Stars (Zone Two) and Home Stars and Real Sportive (Zone Three) had earlier qualified for the final stage of qualification to the elite division.

The six teams will vie for the two automatic slots for the premiership while the third-placed team engages the 14th-placed premier league team in a play-off. Incidentally, none of the teams who have booked their middle league tickets is yet to feature in the premiership.
