Juventus want the double - Asamoah

Kwadwo Asamoah says Juventus want a Coppa Italia and Scudetto double, but “it won’t be easy”.

The Bianconeri are three points clear at the top of Serie A, and have already secured a place in the cup final against Milan, having won both competitions last season.

“We started badly, then we’ve succeeded in a great comeback,” Asamoah told Sky.

“Now we can’t throw away what we’ve done. At the end all that counts is who wins.

“We’ll have to make an extra effort in these last eight games. They’ll all be difficult, and to get the Scudetto we’ll have to win at least seven, but we’re ready.

“The double? We’ll try. It won’t be easy to repeat it after last year, but we’ll work hard to achieve it.”

Asamoah has been plagued by injury, making just 12 Serie A appearances across the last two seasons, but the Ghanaian believes his versatility will be useful for the run-in.

“I can play in multiple roles, but certainly after the injury I’ll need time to return to top form. I’m happy if my team wins, even if I play less. I just try to do my best when it’s my turn.

“There are 11 players on the pitch, the important thing is to know that if you come on, even five minutes can make a difference.

“Take the Napoli game for example, [Simone] Zaza came on, he played really well and he scored the winning goal.

“That’s our strength.”

Finally, the former Udinese man praised teammate Paul Pogba, as well as reflecting on his own Bianconeri highlights.

“Paul has grown so much in recent years to become one of the best in the world. He has everything, and it’s a pleasure to watch him play.

“My favourite game? The game I remember most fondly is the one against Fiorentina two years ago, with my goal. To this day I wonder how I managed to score!”
