The leader of Ghana’s delegation for the All Africa Games, Saka Acquaye, has confirmed to Starr Sports Ghana’s contingent for the quadrennial tournament will depart Accra for Brazzaville, Congo via a chartered flight on Thursday.

The 11th edition of the multi-sports event which kicks off in 10 days’ time will see over 50 African countries participating.

Ghana is expected to make the trip with over 300 athletes and officials who will compete in 16 disciplines. Acquaye has been explaining the reason behind Ghana's early departure.

“All though the All Africa Games is starting on the 4th of September, some of the competitions will start before the main event and if you don't go early you might miss those competitions.

“If you don't start you don't qualify to participate in the main event so because of that we are leaving on the 27th of this month,” Acquaye stated.
