LG Cup: Stars Expected In Lagos Today

....Champions Iran Expected Yesterday
Lagos (Nigeria) -- Champions of the LG Cup Iran were expected to arrive in Nigeria, yesterday evening ahead of the competition, which kicks off Friday in Abuja.

According to tournament organisers, LG, Nigeria's next door neighbours and African champions the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon are due in the country today same as the Black Stars of Ghana.

However, the host team, the Super Eagles were expected to arrive yesterday from Jamaica where they played a friendly on Sunday which they lost 3-2.

Although the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) is yet to release the names of the players who will battle the Black Stars in Friday's opening match there are indications that not all the those that featured in the makeshift team to the Caribbean will be on parade Friday.

All the foreign teams are to be quartered at the Federal Palace Hotel from where they will be flown to Abuja Thursday morning by IRS Airlines.

Meanwhile, each team has been allotted one hour training slots at the National Stadium, Abuja in order for them to get a feel of the turf ahead of the Friday kick off.

Nigeria's Super Eagles will get the first lay of the lush green field at 3pm on Thursday and will be followed one hour later by opening match rivals Ghana.

Iran and Cameroon who clash in the second game have their tune to work out at 5 and 6pm respectively.
