Clottey’s dream of winning a world title again is alive – Coach

Former IBF welterweight Champion, Joshua Clottey’s dream of winning a world title is still alive according to his trainer Godwin Dzanie Kotey.

Clottey’s performance in recent times have taken a nose dive and he wants to hit the ground running with a tune up fight on May 9th in the United States of America.

The Grandmaster was billed to fight Canelo Alvarez in 2014, but the said bout hit a snag after Alvarez’s camp confirmed their boxer had suffered an injury.

Though the bout was supposed to take off this year, no confirmation of the said bout has been made public.

With this, the former IBF welterweight Champion has agreed in principal to fight with a yet to be named opponent in a 10 rounder next month.

Trainer of Clottey believes though he will face an uphill task to get a crack at the world title soon, Godwin Dzanie Kotey is optimistic the dream of his boxer winning the world title is alive.

“Joshua will be fighting in May, and it’s a warm up fight for him, we want him to fight and get close to the world title, the dream of winning the world title is still alive and kicking”.
