AdjaCofie re-elected NPC President

Bishop Cornelius AdjaCofie has been re-elected as the National Paralympic Committee (NPC), president for another four years to manage the affairs of the committee.

AdjaCofie received the nod from the majority of the 35 delegates present at the NPC second electoral congress held at the Accra Sports Stadium.

In the vice presidency category, Eric Kissi beat competition from Alex Tetteh, chairman of the Interim Management Committee of Ghana Amputee Football Association (GAFA), and Richard Offei of Richoff Foundation to emerge winner with 17 votes out of 35 delegates at the congress.

Wilson Agbesi Yaw representative of the National Council on Persons with Disability on wheelchair basketball was given the mandate pulling 27 votes whilst Rev. Richard Adesah, Elvis Kosi Alipui, Frederick Assor and Johnson Mahama Numeri were elected as executive members of the committee.

AdjaCofie told GNA Sports that ‘‘I was expecting to be endorsed because so far it is being good. I was always with them and my achievement was there to show. This overwhelming endorsement indicates that the disability sporting fraternity has extreme trust in me.

“This tells that, I have to work harder because it is not just a matter of endorsement but to take the NPC to a different level altogether".

He said that he planned to inaugurate representatives in the various regions to discover talents to represent the country at the All Africa Games.
