"Gyan's form will be crucial in Ghana's AFCON chances"

Ex-Ghana defender Sam Johnson says Ghana’s performance at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations will depend on the form of captain Asamoah Gyan.

Gyan recently returned from a three-week injury layoff and has found his scoring boots.

The Al Ain striker missed the final two matches in the 2015 Africa Cup Nations qualifiers but managed to score three goals which took his tally to 44 goals.

Johnson says Gyan can be Ghana’s inspiration to end its trophy drought which dates back to three decades.

“Every competition has its own heroes just like every team has its key players,” the former Fenerbahce defender said.

“Gyan is our source of goals this days and our tournament success will go a long way if he finds the goals.

“Not to say all depend on him but off course he is one of the faces that will carry much expectations.”
