Hearts unhappy about delay to league kick off

Former Premier League champions Hearts of Oak have expressed displeasure over the delay to the start of the 2014/2015 Premier League season.

In a press release signed by the club's Managing Director, Gerald Ankrah, the club's position is that the delay is "causing enormous financial pressure on the clubs. For instance, clubs have just recruited new players at a high cost; salaries are paid monthly, camping expenses are being incurred amongst other things, without any revenue."

According to the release, the club believes that "apart from the direct economic losses stated above, the delay is likely to negatively affect the corporate outlook of the Ghanaian league in this era of club licensing, thereby affecting our chances of attracting sponsors."

In the release, the club is puzzled as to "why a simple disciplinary issue between two clubs could not be solved by the football authorities and has travelled to this stage."

Hearts of Oak has therefore called "on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Premier League Board (PLB) to attach some urgency to the resolution of issues causing the delay of the football season."
