Herbert appoints Club Championship Commissioner

Herbert Mensah, President of the Ghana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) has appointed Steve Noi as Tournament Commissioner for the upcoming Ghana Rugby Club Championship (GRCC) 2014-15.

The championship which begins on November 1, will feature six clubs from the Greater Accra; Accra Sharks RFC, Cosmos Buffaloes RFC, Dansoman Hurricanes RFC, Idas Sports RFC, Legon Titans RFC and Tema Anchors RFC.

Central and Western Region (CentWest) will be represented by Abura Bombers RFC, Aggreyguaa RFC, Mfantadisc RFC, Oguaaman Ocean Warriors RFC, UCC Spartans and Westside RFC.

Mensah said that “Mr. Noi has a wealth of experience in sports administration and given the fact that Ghana Rugby has been run for 11 years with people who have none or very little experience in sports administration and even less in Rugby administration makes the partnership with Mr. Noi so much more significant”.

According to him, although Rugby in Ghana will still be run on a volunteer basis given the financial position of the Union,, there were definite plans to generate money to eventually engage resourceful people like Noi to come on board on a full time paid basis.

Noi said “When I picked up the changes in Ghana Rugby I followed the exploits of the Herbert Mensah led administration with great interest and it did not take a lot to convince me that I wanted to be part of this exciting development upon his experience with Asante Kotoko”.
