I am happy we didn't sign Ahmed Toure

Former Hearts of Oak National Chapters Committee PRO Andrew Kwame Adjepong says Hearts fans should not habour any ill-feeling against Asante Kotoko striker Ahmed Toure adding that the club’s inability to sign him was a blessing in disguise.

Toure prior to his signing for Kotoko, was in the camp of the Phobians and played two matches for them in the GHALCA Top 4 competition.

But contractual disagreements stalled his move to the Phobians, an action which did and still has not gone down well with many Hearts fans. But Kwame Adjepong begs to differ.

“I watched him play against us in both legs of the Super 2 clash and I must say that I feel it is a good thing we did not sign him, because he is not the Ahmed Toure we used to know.

“Though he scored in the first leg, he was a mere passenger in the game and had to be replaced later in the second half, and the same thing happened here in Accra.

“The player is now riding on his past achievements and Hearts of Oak is looking for a player who can be a team player”, Adjepong mentioned in an interview with sportscrusader.com on Monday.

Aside from his form, the former NCC PRO had issues with the striker’s off the field activities an action he stressed would have ‘contaminated’ the other innocent Hearts players.

“This is not a player we should be wailing for our inability to secure his services. We want players who are hungry for success and his demeanor tells another thing. For me it’s a blessing in disguise and I want all Hearts fans to rather celebrate it rather than hold ill-feelings against the player”.
