Nassamu shocked by Kwarasey's attack

Ghana goalkeepers’ trainer Nassamu Yakubu is surprised by claims by World Cup gloves man Adam Larsen Kwarasey he is incompetent for the job.

Kwarasey, who was dropped as Ghana’s first choice goalkeeper at the World Cup, launched a scathing attack on the Medeama SC trainer as lacking the credentials to handle the national team.

But Yakubu has questioned the timing for Kwarasey’s outburst having worked with him the last two years.

“I need not to boast of what I have done and what I can do as a goalkeepers’ trainer and for Kwarasey, I always approach him and ask what I can really do to help him give out his best and he always tells me I am doing the right thing,” the former Hearts of Oak goalkeeper told Kumasi-based Metro FM.

“I am surprised to hear him question my competence, because I have been coaching him for two years now and never has he said anything like that.”

Kwarasey in a separate interview with a Norwegian newspaper alleged that he was dropped from the Ghana’s starting line-up to face Germany hours to the match after some players complained he could not communicate with them in Twi, a local language.

“How can we decide to drop a player from the starting line-up, after we have made up our mind to start him by listening to complaints from some of his colleagues?

“We were the same people who started him against USA and is he telling us some players influenced our decision to settle on him as a starter.”
