Harrison Afful: I have heard of interest from Marseille but...

Ghanaian International Harrison Afful has confirmed being monitored by French giants Olympique Marseille but will only decide his future after the impending world cup in Brazil.

Afful who has won almost all trophies with his club Esperance in 4 seasons in Tunisia is ready to move on but will do so with the blessing of his club.

“I have played for Esperance for almost 5 years. I have served them very well in the seasons that I have played for them. We have not spoken much about my future because they know there are a host of clubs chasing for me.

“I cannot join any club without their blessing so if the right offer comes and they accept it why not I will move on. Most of the time, it is the wish of the player to move on but if the club wants you to stay you cannot say much,” he told footy-Ghana.com.

Pushed on which clubs might have contacted his camp, Afful said: “I have heard of Olympique Marseiille and others."

The Black Stars right-back who can also play as a defensive midfielder added that it will be too difficult to reject an offer from Marseille but will make considerations after the World Cup in Brazil.

“Of course, it is every player’s [African] dream to play in Europe and I think am not an exception. The idea of playing in Europe is too good to refuse because people watch European football now and then. I don’t take decisions on my football career on my own, I do that with my family and a host of other people, so I will consider if to move on or stay after the world cup.

"The season has been well and most of the time when season ends, you see different clubs coming onboard to make an offer. These things are normal in modern day football.”
