I have no regrets not winning AFCON 2013 - Kwesi Appiah

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah insists he has no regrets leading the side to Nations Cup failure in 2013.

The Black Stars lost to Burkina Faso in the semifinals of the African Cup in South Africa having showed a lot of promise going into the competition.

Ghana eventually finished fourth to extend its barren title run which spans over three decades now.

And with the hurt from the disappointing campaign in South Africa fresh in the minds of many Ghanaians, Appiah remains adamant he has no regrets having emerged from the competition with several options for the Black Stars.

“For me I have never regretted in any step I have taken,” he told Metro TV’s Sports File.

“The main reason being many of the players we took to the Nations Cup were young and we were building the team.We came out of the competition with a lot of players who had played a tournament for the first time and could help us in the future. Saying that, any coach goes into a competition to win it and I don’t think we were disgraced at the competition”

His impressive works during the successful qualifiers included a historic 7-1 rout of Egypt in the playoff stage.
