Boateng: I once supported Hearts

English-born Ghanaian defender Daniel Boateng, who plays for Scottish Premiership side Hibernian on loan from Arsenal, has said he once supported Hearts of Midlothian because of Laryea Kington.

The youngster was on the bench on Sunday as his side were beaten 2-0 by Hearts at the Tynecastle Stadium.

“I knew very little about Gary Locke’s side just that I once took a passing interest in Hearts thanks to the presence in the Jambos ranks of Ghanaian midfielder Laryea Kingston,” Boateng told Edinburg News.

“Scottish games would be on television down south and every now and again I’d watch Hearts if Kingston was playing, really just because he came from Ghana. But I’ve never seen an Edinburgh derby on the telly.”

Boateng who has been playing with the Hibernian Under-20 side has just featured twice for the senior team.
