Six Ghanaian cyclists in Lagos

for ECOWAS Cycling Tour

A strong six – man team of power cyclists have left Ghana on Monday November 11, 2013 to participate in the ECOWS Cycling Tour which starts in Nigeria. Burkina Faso won the last two editions of the tour. 14 countries are expected to arrive in Lagos for the third edition of the ECOWAS Cycling Tour that will flag off on Wednesday at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.

Some of the countries expected to take part in the five-day tour are Togo, Benin, Ghana, Cote d Ivoire, Mali, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Guinea, Gabon, Liberia and Nigeria.

According to the Tournament Director, Francis Chuks Njoaguani, six cyclists and five officials from each country will take part in this year's race that will begin in Lagos on Wednesday November 13, 2013 and terminate in Abidjan on November18, 2013.

Njoaguani added that the cyclists will ride through Lagos, Cotonou, Lome, Accra and stop in Abidjan.

Meanwhile, the Technical Director of Team Nigeria, Mohammed Bashir has assured that the national team will win this year's race because "they have been in camp for the past three weeks mapping out strategies."

Dennis Moore, Communications Director of the Ghana Cycling Federation told yours truly the Ghanaian team have prepared very well and the recent Cowbell Tour has put all the six personalities competing for Ghana in tip top shape. Prosper Agbo the 2013 Cowbell Tour winner said Ghanaians should expect good news in the results. Samuel Anim the sensational fighter in cycling said this time the cyclists from Burkina Faso and Cote d Ivoire will not have it easy.

The cyclists thanked the National Sports Authority and Ministry of Youth & Sports for providing the funds for the trip.
