Right to Dream Academy players join Limerick FC

Right to Dream Academy has confirmed the transfer of two of its players to Irish giants Limerick FC.

Midfielder Prince Agyemang and goalkeeper Ali Abbas joined the Irish premier division outfit after impressing officials of the club during their current tour of the United Kingdom.

The duo featured prominently in the U-18s recent campaign in the Gothia Cup in Sweden where RtD placed a respectable third place, before embarking on the UK leg of their tour which has seen the team chalk some impressive victories over the likes of Celtic and Sunderland.

The two players have benefitted from Right to Dream’s world class coaching and specialised programme of personal development and education to some of the brightest but underprivileged young football prospects in Ghana and Africa as a whole.

Prince, 19, is known for his aggressive and technical efficiency coupled with his ability to read the game very well in a deep lying midfield position.

Ali, 18, has the distinction of playing three-times at the prestigious Manchester United Premier Cup, and is a promising goalie highly rated for his good ball distribution skills, presence in post and his ability in 1 v1 situations.

They will be seeking to make the transition to professional football during their time in Ireland.

Limerick FC manager Stuart Taylor expressed his delight at his clubs latest signings having seen the two players in Manchester.

“I went over myself and I couldn’t believe the standard. The game that they played against Preston under 19s, they absolutely battered them and these are boys that can play at under 19 level,”Taylor said in an interview in August.

The coach of the three-times winners of the League of Ireland Cup added, “They’ve (RtD) played numerous Premier League under 19 sides and totally dominated the game.

“From what I have seen they will play a part next season. If we can get their clearance through for this season, and if it’s possible that they can play this season, I guarantee you they will play. If they don’t, then we’ll prepare them to play for next season, but they’re still eligible for under 19s.

“They’re incredible talents and it’s really going to be a good show for the supporters to see them play.”

Right to Dream continues to deliver world class coaching and a specialised programme of personal development, education and leadership skills to some of the brightest but underprivileged young football prospects in Ghana and Africa as a whole.

Currently, students enrolled in the Academy come from Ghana, Cote D’Ivoire, Benin, Burkina Faso, Congo, Mali and South Africa.

To date, Seventeen RtD graduates have signed professional contracts for European Clubs. Five others are senior internationals and many others have played for Ghana’s junior national teams including the three junior internationals who played for the Ghana national under 17 team recently.
