Koforidua Betom Win Daasebre Cup

Koforidua Betom beat their rivals Koforidua Sorodae 3-1 in the final match of a special soccer competition played at Koforidua at the weekend to lift the Daasebre Oti Boateng anniversary cup. Betom scored through Jonas Akorli (26th and 64th pen) and Maxwell Owusu (51st) while Ja Lilo (11th) netted the lone goal for Sorodae. Twenty communities in and around Koforidua took part in the competition which formed part of activities marking the "Akwantukese" festival of the chiefs and people of New Juaben traditional area. It was also to mark the fifth anniversary of the installation of Daasebre Oti Boateng as Omanhene of New Juaben. Daasebre Oti Boateng presented the cup, 100,000 cedis, a set of jersey and a create of soft drinks to the Betom boys as their prize. Runners-up Sorodae had 75,000 cedis, a set of jersey and a create of soft drinks while third-placed Nsukwaw got 500,000 cedis, a set of jersey and a create of soft drinks, all donated by ABC Brewery. Daasebre thanked the players and organisers for a successful competition.
