Okwahu United coach resigns

Stephen Abugri has confirmed to JOY Sports his resignation from division one outfit Okwahu United due to “personal reasons.”

The proverb-talking coach gained his claim to fame after guiding King Faisal back to the premier league two seasons ago.

He was thus asked to do same for the Nkawkaw-based team but fell short of the task, guiding them to the zonal middle league but failing to progress, losing all three games against Inter Allies - who grabbed the only qualification slot -, Nania FC and Danbort FC in zone three.

Stephen Abugri tells JOY Sports he resigned due to personal reasons although it is believed that he resigned after being allegedly assaulted by a fan of the club.

He believes “Okwahu United were not destined to qualify for the premier league this year because if God says no, no human being can say yes.”

Stephen Abugri who stayed with the club for only eight months out of his two-year contract adds: “I believe next year God will say yes and Okwahu will qualify for the premier league.”

Asked what next after his resignation, Abugri said “forward ever, backwards never. I know once clubs know that Stephen Abugri has resigned, they will come chasing me not because of the way I talk, but my works. Actions speak louder than words.”
