Enyimba and Ismaili could play in President’s Cup

Footy-ghana.com understands that he Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) is set to rebrand this year’s President’s Cup with the inclusion of two foreign clubs to compete with two domestic Clubs for the coveted award.

Footy–ghana.com sources say former African champions Enyimba FC and Ismailia from Egypt could be the two foreign clubs that will participate in this year’s Presidents Cup.

The President’s Cup which is played annually to honor the sitting president of the country will see local clubs competing with foreign clubs for the first time in GHALCA’s history.

The Chairman of the President’s Cup Committee, John Ansah, told footy-ghana.com that plans are far advanced to secure the services of the two clubs to arrive in time for the President’s Cup, adding nothing is concrete as at now.

“We have started negotiations and we have spoken to the two clubs and that is how things stand now. We want to rebrand the President’s Cup this year, and we want to give to Ghanaians what they want in terms of football,” he said.

In a related development, South African giants Orlando Pirates have also been contacted with reference to playing in the President’s Cup.
