I’m best candidate for GBA President, says Manly-Spain

Henry Manly-Spain, a candidate in the Ghana Boxing Authority presidential race believes he towers above the other candidates stating that he is also most capable of handling the current challenges facing the Authority.

“I am the best candidate for the job because I have shown much passion and commitment to the development of the sport through my investment and management of a number of boxers for the past 30years,” he said. According to the top National Democratic Congress executive, none of the other contenders have the zeal and tenacity to turn the fortunes of the GBA as sought by followers of the sport in this country. Mr. Manly-Spain made these comments when he submitted his nomination forms at the GBA secretariat at the Accra Sports Stadium last Tuesday.

Mr. Manly-Spain said he is well vexed in operations of the GBA and that, he believes makes him the favourite candidate for the top position.

On the future for boxing in Ghana, Mr. Manly-Spain who is the chief executive of Servistar Frozen Foods in Tema said there is hope for the sport, adding “I used to worry in the past but now I don’t because we have already crossed some bridges and we will soon get to our destination.” He hinted that Braimah ‘Bukom Banku’ Kamoko will fight for a world title in Ghana in July together with three other world titles including one female championship.

Meanwhile, former GBA chairman, Mr. Samir Captan has also picked his nomination form to vie for the presidency again while his hitherto vice, Mr. Jonas Ahene-Truly is also contesting for the vice-presidency.
