Ghanaian players abroad wrap up

ITALY

Kwadwo Asamoah was an unused substitute for the first time in his Juventus career as the Serie A champions drew 1-1 at Napoli on Friday in the top of the table clash.

Elsewhere, Kevin Prince Boateng played 76 minutes and scored the second goal but compatriot Sulley Muntari was an unused substitute in AC Milan’s 3-0 win over Lazio. Isaac Coffie started on the for Chievo but came on after only 31 minutes with his side trailing 0-1, scored the equalizer 7 minutes later but could not help them suffer a 2-1 defeat at Fiorentina.

Emmanuel Agyemang Badu played the entire duration of the match for Udinese in their 1-0 win at Pescara but Joseph Duncan did not even make the Inter Milan squad which came from two goals down to win 3-1 at Catania for whom Amidu Salifu was an unused substitute.

FRANCE

Dede Ayew played the entire match whilst his kid brother, Jordan lasted 87 minutes in Marseille’s 2-1 win over Troyes.

Elsewhere, John Boye joined compatriot John Mensah on the Rennes injury sidelines as they both missed the 0-2 loss at Montpellier whilst Mohammed Rabiu lasted 51 minutes but compatriot Jonathan Mensah did not feature for Evian TG in their goalless draw at Toulouse. Meanwhile, no good news to report for neither Ishmael Yartey, Michael Abu nor Samuel Inkoom as Yartey and Abu didn’t even make the bench for Sochaux’s 1-2 loss to Nancy and Lorient’s 1-1 draw with Valenciennes respectively whilst Inkoom watched Bastia’s 1-0 win over Ajaccio from the bench.

ENGLAND

Black Stars’ chasing Emmanuel Frimpong was a 65th minute substitute for Fulham as they gave up a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 at Sunderland in the Premiership.

In the championship, Albert Adomah came off the bench in the 83rd minute in Bristol City’s 0-0 draw at Blackpool which pushed them down to rock bottom after 35 matches but Prince Buabeng still has yet to kick a ball for Watford this season after again missing their 1-1 draw at Wolves.

Manchester United trialist, Jeffrey Schlupp again was absent for Leicester City as they lost 0-1 at Ipswich Town.

SPAIN

Michael Essien played all 90 minutes in Real Madrid’s 2-1 win over FC Barcelona to cut their deficit at the top to 13 points. Elsewhere, Mubarak Wakaso finally made his Espanyol return in the second half of their goalless draw with Real Valladolid but Anthony Annan could still not add to his six Osasuna caps after again missing even the match day squad in their 0-1 home loss to Athletic Bilbao.

GERMANY

Teenager Abdul Rahman Baba once again played all 90minute for relegation bound Greuther Furth who avoided defeat for the second straight game, this time impressively drawing 1-1 at Hamburg but compatriot Afriyie Acquah only watched from the bench as Hoffeinheim’s fight to avoid the drop got worse courtesy a 0-1 loss to champions-elect, Bayern Munich.

HOLLAND

Dutch-born Ghanaian winger Memphis Depaywas the hero for leaders, PSV scoring the opening goal as early as the 3rd minute to set up a 2-0 win over VVV and maintain their 2-point lead over rivals, Ajax in Eredivisie. Elsewhere, Fred Benson came on as 77th minute substitute for PEC Zwolle in their 2-0 win over Willem II but the injured Nana Kwesi Asare was again absent for Utrecht who lost 2-0 at Vitesse.

Kwame Quansah again played all 90 minutes for Almelo Heracles who lost 1-3 at ADO Den Haag but Mattew Amoah was again missing for Heerenveen as they came from behind to win 2-1 at the club where he made his name, NAC Breda whilst another Dutch born Ghanaian Johan Kapelhoff’s Groningen also lost 4-1 at Roda JC. PORTUGAL Christian Atsu returned as a 66th minutes substitute for Porto in their goalless draw at rivals, Sporting Lisbon. Elsewhere, William Tiero watched from the bench but teenage compatriot Thomas Agyiri was completely absent in Gil Vicente’s 3-1 loss to Nacional whilst David Addy also missed Vitoria Guimaraes’ 2-0 win over Academica.

TURKEY

Jerry Akaminko played all 90 minutes for Eskisehirspor as they drew goalless with runaway leaders, Galatasaray to stay4th and in hunt for qualification for Europe.

In the second tier 1.Lig, Torric Jebrin followed his midweek Turkey Cup heroics with another big display for 1461 Trabzon to beat Sanliurfaspor 1-0 whist on-loan Emmanuel Banahene scored both goals for Karsiyaka to beat Karim Alhassan’s Adana Demirspor 2-0.
