Toende United delighted with FA Cup home tie

Team Manager of Division One League side, Zebilla Toende United, Abugbire Bright Osman has expressed his joy at getting a home match after the MTN FA Cup round of 32 draw that took place Thursday in Accra.

Toende United are the only Division One League side in the Upper East Region of Ghana and their Team Manager is very pleased to get a home tie which means Toende will play the match at their favourite Bawku Sports Stadium.

The MTN FA Cup round of 32 pairings have pitted the Zebilla based side at home to fellow second tier league outfit, Bibiani Gold Stars on March 10.

“Before the draw I was praying to God to give me a home tie and it has come to pass. I am so happy to be playing the tie at my favorite home ground, which is a difficult place for away teams because the support from our fans is always overwhelming,” Mr. Osman told GBC Ura Radio Sports in Bolgatanga.

He added: “I will only call on the people of the Upper East Region to come to the stadium to cheer the team to victory on the day of the match.”

However, Bright Osman admits the game will not be an easy one even though playing on a home soil gives a team comparative advantage over their opponents.

“The match will be a tough encounter one considering the top form of Gold Stars in the ongoing national Division One League, they occupy the top position in Zone 2A boasting an unbeaten record. But I am highly optimistic that with the support of the people of Upper East Region, we will sail through this match and progress to the next stage of the competition,” said the Toende United TM.

The round of 32 Ghana FA CUP matches will be played from the 08-12 of March 2013.
