Wakaso continues to train alone at Espanyol

midfielder Mubarak Wakaso is still not in the plans of Espanyol coach Javier Aguirre ahead of this weekend Spanish La Liga match.

The hard-tackling player was fined and told to train alone after returning late from the Africa Cup of Nations where Ghana finished fourth.

Wakaso did not train with the first team at Sant Adrià on Thursday ahead of their Spanish La Liga trip to Atletico Madrid.

He is likely to return to action next week against Valladolid but the 22-year-old must fight for his position.

The left-footed midfielder enjoyed more time under former coach Mauricio Pochettino but he is not key in Aguirre’s plans.

Wakaso missed seven league matches when he was away but Espanyol never felt his absence.
