Esperance terminate Clottey contract

Tunisian side Esperance has cancelled the contract of Black Stars striker Emmanuel Clottey by mutual consent.

The 2012 CAF Champions League top scorer snubbed a number of European sides and joined the former African champions in a mega deal from Ghanaian side Berekum Chelsea.

The 25-year-old put up an impressive display in last year’s CAF Champions League competition which earned him a lot of plaudits.

Our source says that Esperance have failed to fulfill their part of the contract and are also yet to pay the reported $1.5 million transfer fee to the Berekum lads.

Clottey was signed in November last year to replace Youssef Msakni who has since joined Qatari side Lekhwiya SC.

The former Accra Great Olympics and Tema Youth striker who is now on International duty with the Black Stars at the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa will return to Berekum Chelsea until another deal is secured in the future.
