Gyan warn black stars

Asamoah Gyan current captain of black stars has warned his team against complacency when they face Niger in their final group game.

The Black Stars are in pole position to clinch top spot in Group B with a win over Niger on Monday.

This was after Ghana beat Mali 1-o on Thursday haven drawn 2-2 with DR Congo in the group opener.

The Black Stars might in the end wouldn’t even need to beat Niger in the final game – a draw could be enough to top Group B depending on how the other game between DR Congo and Mali goes.

But Gyan wants any shred of complacency eschewed from the Black Stars going into Monday’s game in Port Elizabeth.

“Although we had a difficult game today we came with the mentality of winning no matter what. We needed a win in this game,” he said.

“We’re facing Niger. They played a very good game against Mali. They lost their game in the last stages. We are not here to underrate them.

“We will make sure we take it game by game and make sure we qualify. We’ve got four points. We need more points to qualify to the next stage.”

Ghana are aiming to end a 31-year wait for an African title in South Africa having previously won the competition on four occasions
