RTU skipper Hassan: Our season has been disastrous so far

Real Tamale United ended the first round of the Glo Ghana Premier League at the foot of the table without a single win to their name, unprecedented in the history of the Ghana top flight league. The pride of the north who made a swift return to the elite division of Ghana football only a year after their relegation to the lower division of Ghana football two seasons ago have struggled to churn out results in their return season.

They look destined to be heading back to the wilderness of Ghana football at the end of the season after they picked up only five draws, hence making it five points amassed with ten defeats at the end of the first round.

However, skipper of the side Mohammed Hassan still believes the team can escape relegation if management can bring in more quality players to augment the squad ahead of the second round. “For now, the quality we have are is not enough to compete with the other teams. Most of the players here are not living up to the demands of premiership football and that have affected us badly and I can describe our performance so far as disastrous,” Hassan told URA Radio Sports in Bolgatanga.

He added: “I believe if management of the team bring in more quality players we can still be in the league come May this year.”

The former Accra Hearts of Oak skipper also took a swipe at the management of the team for their inability to motivate the playing body which he says is part of the problem for the team’s poor performance.

“Even your own child, if you keep telling him that, things will be good, and he sees no change, he will give up. The motivation is not there and the boys have given up,” Hassan explained.Credit:
