Kotoko’s Journey to the West

Defending league champions Asante Kotoko will travel down west to play as guest to current league leaders Medeama Sporting Club at the Tarkwa T&A Park as the Glo Premier league enters week 6.

Medeama occupies the summit of the log with 13 points whiles the Porcupine Warriors has leap-froged to the fifth position with 7 points. Kotoko obviously did not start the season well as they played their first four matches without a win until last week where they defeated Arsenals at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The abrupt missing lubricant that got missing in the fabulous midfield is gradually coming back home but Coach Bashir Hayford of Medeama who once coached the reds of Ghana football has a secret weapon ready to shoot at his former club.

If the enterprising Michael Anaba would be allowed a free launch in the middle of the field to link up with Michael Helegbe, then the visitors will pick a surprise win at Tarkwa but if Bashir Hayford manages to cage him then the homesters will carry the day.

At the Accra Sports Stadium, the ‘Spiritless Phobia’ will be seeking to end their losing streak as they welcome Real Tamale United without Coach C.K Akunnor whose position has been used to pacify the fate of the club.

The former continental club masters have been hit in the bone for reasons that no outsider can explain and they have begun a house cleaning exercise to help put the club back in shape before things get out of hand.

Predicting a win for Hearts over RTU at the Accra Sports Stadium in some years back was the easiest bet for a Sunday dinner in the Capital but the spirit of the Oak tree which was last seen at the Agbogloshie market going to the Korle-Bu mortuary if not rescued early can further worsen the plight of the phobians.

Hearts is at the thirteenth position with 4 points whiles RTU who are yet to find-tune to the premier division is at the fifteenth position with 3 points.

Kpando Hearts of Lions will welcome soccer miners, Ashantogold fc at their favorite Kpando Park.

Lions are tenth on the ladder with 6 points whiles Ashantigold is third with 9 points. Matches between these two sides have always been hot and Sunday’s encounter will not be anything different. Coach Yaw Acheampong looks rather confident ahead of the match but Hearts of Lions will give them a match worth paying for.

At the Tema Community 3 Park, Tema Youth will entertain their brothers from the Brong Ahafo region Berekum Chelsea.

Tema Youth is fourth on the table with 8 points whiles Chelsea occupies the second spot with 10 points. Matches between these two clubs ends in a draw and I think we are going to witness another draw come Sunday.

Mysterious Cape-Coast Ebusua Dwarfs will play as guest to Alhaji Grunsah’s King Faisal at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. King Faisal is sixth on the log with 7 points whiles Dwarfs are twelfth with 5 points.

At the Bekwai Park, New Edubiase United will play as host to Wa All Stars. Edubiase is fourteenth on the log with 4 points whiles the visitors are eighth with 6 points.

Life without Emmanuel Baffour has been difficult for New Edubiase but they are always favorite at their home grounds and are going to do the business over All Stars come Sunday.

At the Osagyefo Agyemang Badu Park in Dormaa, Aduana Stars will welcome debutant Amidaus Professionals. The visitors have already proven their mission in the league and if care is not taken they can cause a surprise to Aduana at their own back yard.

Aduana is seventh on the table with 6 points whiles the visitors are eleventh with 5 points.

However, Arsenals will welcome the Scientific Soccer lads Liberty Professionals at their favorite Berekum Golden City Park. Arsenals are first from bottom with 3 points whiles Liberty is ninth with 6 points.
