Abdul Waris calm on Black Stars chances

Sweden based striker Abdul Majeed Waris is patient to wait for the right moment to come for him to lead the Black Stars attack.

Waris only made his international debut in last month’s friendly game against China and earned a maiden call-up for a competitive game ahead of the final round Nation’s Cup qualifier against Malawi.

But the top scorer in the Swedish top flight could not even make Coach Kwesi Appiah’s match day squad against the Flames. Waris however is not worrying, insisting his time will come. “I’d like to play of course but you can see there are a lot of experienced players ahead of me so I’m just trying to learn,” he said.

Waris has emerged as one of the hottest young talents in Europe and rejected moves recently to play in the German Bundesliga.

“I think it’s a great experience just being with the Stars team and I’m still growing, developing. As far as I’m doing well and they call me, definitely I’m looking forward to more times with the Black Stars,” Waris told 90 MINUTES exclusively.
