Unilever golf ends with remarkable wins

John P. Smith, scored 46 points to win the 38th Annual Unilever Open Golf championship, played at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday.

Robert Aziamakpor was second with 43 points, Bob Evans came third with 39 points, Christopher Hampton took the fourth position with 37 points while Geoff Fisher placed fifth with 36 points beating Nick Smallman on count-back. Elizabeth Essel-Koomson won the Ladies event with 37 points, beating Adelaide Owusu-Adjapong on count-back, Clara Price was third with 36 points, also beating Jane Hill on count-back while Esther Amedzro took the fifth position with 35 points.

Emos Korblah won the Professionals event with 140 gross, Victor Brave -Mensah was second with 142 gross, Joseph Mawuli was third with 145 gross while J.J. Harvey placed fourth with 153 gross. Unilever Ghana Limited sponsored the one-day 18-hole stableford competition, opened to amateur and professional golfers from Achimota, Tema and Celebrity golf clubs.

Mr Charles Cofie, Marketing Director of Unilever Ghana Limited, was happy with the performances of the golfers. He expressed the hope that his company would improve upon the next year's sponsorship package.
