Edubiase strike partnership with Sundowns, Columbus

The President of New Edubiase Football Club Abdul Salam Yakubu has confirmed partnership agreements with Columbus Crew in Ohio and Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa.

He told Joy Sports the agreement would go a long way to alleviate the financial challenges associated with the running of football clubs and to put the administration of the club on sound business note.

According to Mr Yakubu, the team and officials of the club were scheduled to visit the States earlier this year but the plans have been shelved for a later date.

He added that the club would also benefit in material support from Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa as part of the transfer package that saw them acquire Glo Premier League top scorer Emmanuel Baffour.

“We were supposed to have visited the United States but we had had to shelve it for now. We are still talking with officials of the club and hopefully we would come to some mutually beneficial agreements for New Edubiase.

“Sundowns per the deal to acquire Baffour would also provide us with some kit sponsorship. That deal should be tied up pretty soon and hopefully we would launch these products in due course.

This would not be the first time a club from Ghana is going into partnership with another club beyond its boundaries.

The likes of Gomoa Fetteh Feyenoord have teamed up with the parent club in Holland just as Ashgold teamed up with Ajax in the past.
