BAG to organize Technical Training Course for coaches

The Badminton Association of Ghana (BAG) in collaboration with the National Sports Authority will organize a Technical Training Course for coaches at the rlg/Harthramani Sports Hall of the Accra Sports Stadium from July 3-14.

The training programme is part of the strategic plan of the Association to train and develop coaches to enhance the development and promotion of the game at the grassroots level across the country.

About 30 participants drawn from the ten regions, some selected schools within the Greater Accra Region, the security services as well as identifiable and recognized Badminton Clubs have been invited to participate in the ten days Course.

Ignatius Elletey, General Secretary of BAG told the GNA Sports that, the course will be conducted by Annirao Dajee of Mauritius, a member of the Badminton World Federation (BWF), who is an accredited coach charged with the development at the Badminton Confederation of Africa (BCA).

Elletey said Dajee will arrive in Accra on the 3rd July to commence the course.

He added that there will also be an Under-15 Tournament on 13th and 14th July, 2012, aimed at identifying potential talents for future development, which forms part of the activities for the course .

In all, thirty-two (32) boys and girls are expected to participate in the tournament, drawn from the Volta, Ashanti, Eastern, Greater Accra and Western Regions.

Elletey said the course will involve theory and practical aspects of the game and urged all participants to come along with some training kits for the practicals.**
