Awomefia Of Anlo Is Life Patron Of Ghana Beach Soccer

Premier League Champions Sunset Sports Keta

Awomefia of Anlo Togbi Sri III has whole heartedly accepted to become the life patron of maiden Ghana Beach Soccer Premier League Champions Sunset Sports Keta.
The King of Anlo at a trophy presentation ceremony at his palace on Friday June 8 was offered the role by the Chief Executive Officer of the Club Mr. Dzidodo Ruben Adjahoe which he accepted and promised that the Anlo Kingdom will support the club physically and financially.

Sunset Sports Keta emerged as maiden Ghana Beach Soccer Premier League Champions after going unbeaten in 18 league games all of which were played at the La Pleasure Beach Soccer Arena in Accra from October 2011 to May 2012.
At an event at the palace of the king of Anlo to present the league title to the Awomefia and his Chiefs and Queens, the CEO of the club Mr. Dzidodo Ruben Adjahoe recounted the clubs run to the championship to the King which he described as a difficult and well deserved triumph. He said they encountered problems including financial constraints, logistical constraints, footballing controversies and terrifying enough the team was involved in a road accident but was thankful to God they came out of all of that unscathered.
Mr Adjahoe stated that Keta can build on the success of the club and becomes a recognized beach soccer hub and announced that the club has plans to institute a beach soccer programme in the Municipality. “With these feat chalked I believe we can build on this success and make Keta and Anlo the Premier destination of beach sports in Ghana and also the most recognizable beach soccer center in West Africa. Already Sunset Sports have plans in place to introduce a beach soccer league for Keta which will aim to give young players in the area a platform to move up to selection for the Beach Soccer Premier League and a future Ghanaian national side”.
“In the future, Keta can host a beach sports festival that will receive international attention and acclaim. That is why it is of so much joy to hear the Minister of Youth and Sports Hon. Clement Kofi Humado and Municipal Chief Executive of Keta Hon. Sylvester Tornyeava announce on various platforms of plans to build a beach soccer stadium in Keta”
Mr. Adjahoe expressed his profound appreciation to MP for Anlo Hon Humado who is a patron of the club for supporting them during the league campaign and also to MP for Keta Hon. Richard Lassey Agbenyefia and everyone who supported the club with prayers and financially. He asked that the club is supported by all Anlos and Voltarians in order to bring the desired success to the Anlo Kingdom and the Region.
The Awomefia of Anlo Togbi Sri III in receiving the trophy said he finds himself fortunate among his colleague traditional rulers to be the first to receive the trophy as the players have brought honour to Voltarians and Anlo in particular. He said “the success chalked by the club is proof that Anlos are truly warriors and a single fagot that cooks for the nation”.
He advised the players to continue to work hard to chalk more success in the game. “I am appealing to the players not to rest on the oars but to continue training hard to retain the trophy forever”. “They have actually brought pride to me and made me to stand 10 feet tall among other traditional rulers and I hope in future they will do more than we expect from them”.
The King assured the team that the Anlo State will give them the needed support in order to maintain their current standings as Champions of Ghana Beach Soccer.
He concluded by thanking the management, technical handlers and players of the club for the honour done Anlo and the Region and stated that he has whole heartedly accepted the role of Life Patron of the Club.
Also present at the presentation ceremony was the Awadada of Anlo Togbi Agbesi Awusu II, Chiefs and Queens of Anlo and a patron of Sunset Sports Keta Togbi Fred Gobah-Tengey.
After the trophy presentation to the Awomefia, the club followed up with another presentation to the Keta Municipal Assembly where the Municipal Budget Officer received the trophy on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon. Sylvester Tornyeavah.
He a speech delivered on behalf of the MCE, Hon. Tornyeavah expressed his delight at the historic feat and he pledged the assembly’s support to the club.
