Ghanaians Must Manage their Expectations in the Qualifiers

Today’s match between the nation’s Black Stars and the Crocodiles of Lesotho at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi marks the beginning of the Stars dream to represent the nation at the CAF 2013 in South Africa and the World Cup Brazil 2014.

The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) which represents the masses of Ghanaian students both resident in Ghana and oversea wishes the Stars well in their today match with Lesotho. We do so with humility backed with hope that our Stars as the name suggests will never fail to outshine any opponent however strong they will be.
However, NUGS wants to appeal to Ghanaians to manage their expectations in this qualifier since the case of a “cheap side” no longer holds in our continent anymore.
Also, NUGS wants to inform Ghanaians that we cannot continue insulting our Stars when misfortune occurs and expect their spirits to be high. We reflect their hope and confidence. When the public is down, the Stars will definitely be down. So let us do better.
On behalf of the students of Ghana, NUGS wishes the Stars and their coach a good match and we want results not insults.
Thank you.
